Backup Failed

I keep getting a Backup ERROR.  When I checked the detail, it consistently gives me an additdiag.txt Failed message but it seems to have backed up all the files. At the top of the backup page, it says partial success. Is there a way to fix this?

Re: Backup Failed

I cannot believe someone at Norton has not replied to this note.

Re: Backup Failed

I have a similar problem. I have N360 Premium and 40Gb Cloud backup. I have repeatedly tried to back up about 30Gb but it always fails before all files are uploaded. The system gives me a 'try again' message but repeating doesn't solve the problem. I have had two long sessions with Norton Chat helpers but neither of them seemed to understand how the software works or to diagnose the problems. Rather, they took me through the same old that I had already done - delete everything already backed up, try again, try a different data set, delete everything i.e. trial and error, the experimentation that we do when we don't have the knowledge to analyse the problem. One went so far as to insist that the problem must have been caused by me opening and saving the entire 16,000 files in the backup set over the previous few hours.  And in both cases, no success, back to square one.  The attached shows screen prints of partial failures on a smaller test set of JPG photos. (Yes when you look at the files outside Norton, you can open them all fine.) So - does anyone else have any insight into what might actually be causing this problem?

Many thanks

Re: Backup Failed

Well. end of story. After four chat sessions with four different Norton people (each taking more than one hour of my time), one finally agreed to 'pass it on the engineers', who would be back to me within 48 hours. After some days without any response, I decided to go to a different backup product, and asked the Norton Chat guy to cancel my subscription to an extra 10GB on Cloud (I bought this so I could do my backup, which is never going to work).. He was extremely resistent to this and I had to resort to demanding over and over again that it be cancelled, to avoid further waste of time. Finally (after the huge waste if time that is characteristic of Norton chat), it was cancelled. Now I have bought a different product which works and which gives me 2 TB of backup for a price similar to Norton;s 40Gb. And it worked the first time!  Although I think the core of Norton (security and virus protection) is good, I think their backup to Cloud is bug-ridden and not good value for money. :Leaving aside the fact that, if you use it, you will spend a lot of time on chat. Be careful Norton, you were a great product with a lot of committed users, but maybe your time has passed.

Re: Backup Failed

Q: How to solve the problems with Norton backup?

A: Scrap it and use another, better product.
