Backup keeps opening and closing my DVD/CD Tray...
I installed Norton 360 v220.127.116.11 two days ago. I have a Dell Dimension DXP061 Intel Core 2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz, 2.00 GB RAM, running Windows XP, Media Center Edition, Version 2002, SP 2.
The install proceeded without any problems. My subscription to the Antivirus 2007 had expired, so this was my new Antivirus upgrade. I downloaded off the Norton website.
Everything seemed to run smoothly. My settings were good and it all worked. I did a backup of my computer to DVD on 08/24. This seemed to work well.
Then, the next day, the backup kept trying to run. There would be a screen stating something to the effect of "Please insert CD or DVD media." and the DVD/CD Tray would open and close repeatedly and nonstop. When I would click cancel, it would give me an error stating that another "backup process was running." Once I got rid of the error messages, I went through my settings and unclicked all backup folders and set the backup to Manual only. Reboot. Things seemed fine after that.
Then today, I come home at noon to find my DVD/CD tray repeatedly opening and closing nonstop. There were no error messages or requests for blank media, just the tray opening and closing. I checked all the settings and Backup is grayed out and set to Manual. I rebooted and it quit. For a while, then the tray started opening and closing again.
What's going on? How can I fix it?
I attempted to contact Norton through Webchat, but the agent kept getting "disconnected" and then the page wouldn't load at all. I don't think I should have to pay to speak to an actual person, so I'll give this post a try.
Any help would be appreciated.
UPDATE: When I posted this 10 minutes ago, it wasn't doing it, but it just now started opening and closing again. There was a Norton screen up that simply said, "Backup disabled."Message Edited by Ohikawin on 08-25-2008 05:56 PM
