backup not done recently message

I am having a problem doing backups the way I want to do them.  I want to do them manually.  I use two USB connected external drives for backups, one for a daily backup set and the other for the same daily backup set plus a new weekly backup set with a new name each week leaving the older weekly backups sets in place.  After I do the backups, I disconnect the drives from my laptop.  Sometimes when I try to open “Device Security” to do the backups, I get a message that a backup has not been done recently and the only choice I am given is “Fix It”.  “Fix It” runs all my backup sets all of which are set to be run manually. The technician worked a long time while remotely connected to my computer.  He seemed knowledgeable and put forth a great deal of effort, before telling me he was setting an appointment for someone to call me the next day.  That did not happen.  Bottom line is I still have the problem and Norton have a unhappy customer.

Re: backup not done recently message

Hello George. Check the setting in my screenshot , set it to manual if not already set.

Cheers

Re: backup not done recently message

All my backup set to manual.  this may better explain my issue.  Sometimes, but not always when I open the “My Norton” app there is a message that a backup has not been done recently and the “Device Security” open button has been changed to a “Fix It” button.  All my backup sets are set to be run manually, but “Fix It” runs all my backup sets, both the daily and all the weekly ones.  Why do I get the “backup has not been done recently” message when backup have been run and how do I make the “Fix It” button go away without running the weekly backup sets?

Re: backup not done recently message

Unfortunately, from my research in older posts the Fix It notification cannot be disabled, not even with editing the registry. It unfortunately is a "baked in" behavior Norton has chosen to alert the user action needs to be taken. Per the screenshot I posted my settings are "manual" and to cloud storage on this laptop. On my gamers they are set to manual and external storage. I have not, to date, seen a fix it appear when I have not ran backup for several weeks. That has happened on occasion when I have traveled, etc. Disabling task notifications is also a possible solution as was discussed in an older thread.

Cheers
