backup upload window

The Norton window showing backup progress has dissapeared and I cannot find it, backup is taking around 100 hours so it would be usefull. I can see progress in % of available space but not the window showing % of the backup completed.

I did not close the window it just dissapeared.

Re: backup upload window

Hello Rhod. Is your Norton product the latest version 22.16.0.247 ? Mine is, the below screenshot is what I see when running a manual back and see its progress window. ONLY % copied to the desired backup locations is being shown. 100 hours to perform a backup is entirely not good. You are either backing up a ton of files and/or have a degraded internet connection. In your backup settings set your bandwidth throttle setting to fastest.

Cheers

Re: backup upload window

Thanks for your interest, I presume I am on the latest version as I have only recently renewed. My question came from the permalink below, and I think solving that thread.

https://community.norton.com/en/forums/would-delete-all-my-norton-files-...

From your answer, the "run backup window" shows my 2 backup sets, but has "failed" against both even though one is still running, it is now at 26.7GB of the 30+GB to complete the backup, currently at about 70 hours.

I am in New Zealand and on ADSL near the end of the line, my upload speed is around 1mbs and throttle is wide open.

The window I lost was the run backup with the yellow arow jumping up and down, this was running despite the "failed" signal.

Please excuse my terminology I am a newbie on this forum, Rhod

Re: backup upload window

Thanks for the feedback. However I am at a loss for the "yellow arrow" you had mentioned. Are you monitoring a backup from the NOBU website by any chance? It currently has login issues. Check your Norton product and see if you have "backup overlays" check box checked. Run your backups from the Norton dashboard UI for better results. You can always check the Norton services status here as well for reference. Although its currently green across the board the NOBU login failed for me with a technical error message.

Also your ADSL unfortunately is the issue with the time its taking for the backup. It most likely is the cause of your backups dropping the status window as well when your service goes down intermittently. Hope this helps answer your questions.

Cheers

Re: backup upload window

Thanks, the yellow arrow on your "run backup" window above the 0.0% copied, moves up and down when uploading.

I cannot get that window back, as I get the message "Another backup operation is running", even though the backup that IS running shows "failed"

Yes, while a backup is running, the computer is a bit arthritic.

I await with interest to see what Norton sais when the backup finishes, (now on 29GB) later today

I am impressed by your CV above, thanks once again for your time, Rhod
