Re: Birdstep pop-ups appear always - Is it a Virus?

Hi Pansdude,

Welcome to the forum. Could you provide a little more detail? What OS are you running and SP level, also 32 or 64 bit. Exactly how are you seeing the pop-up?

There is a company called Birdstep here. Have you acquired any products from them? They appear to make VPN and database related software among others.

I've never heard of a virus referred to by this but if it begins to look like a possibility we will need to have this thread reposted in the NIS/AV forum.

Thanks

Allen

not sure about all the jargon but i run 32 bit with home vista ..interent explorer..

it pops up in small box asking to allowed and goes off when i either accept or

cancel..i noticed its not as consistent as when it first started about 3 weeks

ago it popped up several times a day whereas today it was only the twice ..

Hi Pansdude,

This sounds like possible malware on your system. I am going to ask the moderator to move this post to the NIS/AV forum for better exposure.

What is the exact message which you are presented with when you either accept or cancel the popup? NOTE: you should never click accept or even cancel on an unexpected popup window. Instead click on the Red X in the upper right corner.

It would help if you can attach a picture of this popup window.

To do this, please hit Shift+Print Screen when the popup is on your screen. Then bring up Microsoft Paint application and hit Ctrl+V. Select Save As and save the image to your desktop. Then reply to this post and attach this image to your post. To do so please hit the symbol near the top which looks like a green tree. Then browse to the image on your desktop and insert the image.

Thanks

Allen

Hi Pansdude,

On your keyboard, probably near the upper right corner should be a button labled Print Screen. Hold down your Shift Key and while holding , press the Print Screen Button. Microsoft Paint should be located in Start menu->Accessories->Paint.

Please get it on paint. After you've done that please upload it to the forum so we can help
