Blackberry OS 10 and Identity Safe

I've upgraded to a new Blackberry with OS 10.  It supports running Android apps and they can be officially downloaded using the Amazon application marketplace.   Is the IDS application available through Amazon, or only on Google Play?  (If so, I'll go sign up.)  If not, is there a place where I can get the application without going to Google Play, which doesn't recognize my Blackberry as a device to which it will download?

Re: Blackberry OS 10 and Identity Safe

Sorry for the delay in a response. I guess there are not many users of Blackberry devices here.

I searched the Kindle Store on Amazon and could not find the app. The thing with the Kindle versions of apps is that the version of Android used on Kindle has been modified for that device. So regular Android apps will not work without being modified.

Re: Blackberry OS 10 and Identity Safe

Thanks.  I'm sure that there aren't many Blackberry folks.  I looked at the Norton app in the Amazon store and it doesn't even seem to include the IDS vault function.

So I'm still looking for an answer.  Maybe from someone at Norton?  I tried to go to the Google Play store to get it, but it doesn't seem to have a way for me to get the file down to a computer so I might be able to send the application file to my phone to try it.

Re: Blackberry OS 10 and Identity Safe

The reason you cannot download anything is that the Blackberry OS is not supported by the app. The Amazon/Kindle downloads you have access to use a modified Android OS, so the apps have to be ported to the different OS. Norton did port the Norton Mobile Security app, but seems to have chosen not to port the Identity Safe app.

Re: Blackberry OS 10 and Identity Safe

The Blackberry OS 10 will apparently run many native Android apps.  It is apparently smart enough to substitute some functions that work a little differently on Blackberry.  Since I have IDS running on my other devices I'd like to run it on this one to too.  But I haven't found a way to get to the apk file to test it.  It is possible IDS is running using some kind of Android services that would stop it from working, but there is analyzer to help check for that.

You may have almost answered your own question above.

The Blackberry OS 10 will apparently run many native Android apps.

So not all apps. You might want to find a Blackberry forum somewhere to ask what Android apps do or do not run on the Blackberry, and why. Also, how do they get them onto the device when, as you say, the Google Play store does not recognize your device.
