Blocking a java protocol

I'm a gamer and I constantly run into this error when my game tries to download a file from a server:

Re: Blocking a java protocol

I'm no programmer, but the code you show just seems to be the code to try to download something. I do not see an error listed.

Are you getting any error from Norton about the download attempt? Can you post a screenshot of the error? Instructions to post screenshots can be found here

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Blocking a java protocol

Hello

Do you have the latest Java installed? I have found many topics about this same error all over Google. It seems to be a common problem with Minecraft along with other games as well. I think it has something to do with the way the server is set up. Does this happen with other servers in your game? Have you emailed the Admin of the server about this error or the Forum for the game you are trying to play? If this is about an older game, your Java may be too new for the game also.

Does the download work if you disable the firewall for 15 minutes?

Re: Blocking a java protocol

two things:

1. this is my version.  java version "1.8.0_45"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_45-b14)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.45-b02, mixed mode). its the most concurrent as far as i know

2. Just tried that.  Didn't work, tried disabling the Intrusion and Browser Protection that didn't either

Re: Blocking a java protocol

Hello

Curse Voice seems to be a beta program. Have you tried their Forum?

Re: Blocking a java protocol

The only reason why I haven't is cuz I get this with every other minecraft modpack related platform.  FTBLauncher, ATLauncher, Technic Launcher, and now Curse Voice

Re: Blocking a java protocol

Hello

I don't think it has to do with Norton. I saw in the MineCraft  Forum that there were many players who were having this problem going back for 4 or 5 years..

Re: Blocking a java protocol

Hello

I would suggest emailing the Admin of the server you play on, tell him your problem and see what he says about it. There must be a way to do it or else he won't have other players to play on the server. I play Unreal Tournament and am also an Admin of a couple of servers and I know that the owner of the server does get emails when there are problems. The Admin's email address should be on the server listing. I think that is your best bet.

Doesn't the server have a fast redirect server for downloads? We have them in the old game of Unreal Tournament.

Re: Blocking a java protocol

One problem I forgot to mention is the fact that, the Minecraft launcher developed and published by Mojang work fine with downloading files
