Blocking parent access

I've just got home from work to discover that every single URL is blocked on my unmonitored account.

I had to log in as a parent and add myself as a registered user so that it let me on.

Three questions really....

1) Why does it ever block my access?

2) Why would it change?

3) Why would it allow me again when I link my name to my account (when it wasn't linked before)

I've since removed the link between accounts (re 3) . Any ideas appreciated.... I don't like this development!

Re: Blocking parent access

We have just reproduced this in our QA labs as well. If you reboot your system it should work properly.

We will update this thread when we know more about he issue.

Re: Blocking parent access

Hi magentix,

The program is not designed to work this way.  You definitely don't need to  link your Windows acct to your profile on the Web.  Please restart  your PC to see if it helps.

Thanks,

Katie

Re: Blocking parent access

yeah. i can surf now....

turns out that exactly the same thing happened to my wife earlier and she'd already rebooted the computer. (we have different accounts on the same computer - windows 7 home premium - 64  bit)

i did not/have not rebooted as i couldn't see it would have any immediate benefit. i'd have uninstalled the software next.

when i told my friends how great it was and that it "doesn't monitor parent accounts" and they laughed "yeah right - probably logs it all" it seems they were a little more correct than i'd hoped.

interestingly - i've just noticed - even though i'm told it's "not montioring my account" it's forced google safe search to "ON"

thanks for your swift replies.

Re: Blocking parent access

magentix,

As Matt pointed out, we are able to reproduce the issue in house and this is something that we're investigating now.  For now, if you reboot the PC, the PC won't be remembering what restrictions the last Windows account user has.

This program doesn't  monitor parent accounts(any accounts that are not binding to the profiles on the OnlineFamily.Norton Website). The program DOES NOT log all activities for all users unless you set it up.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Thanks,

Katie

Re: Blocking parent access

once again, thanks for your prompt replies.

my "blocked access" from my unmonitored account has been logged against one of my children.

i shall look forward to the updates

Re: Blocking parent access

I know you're working on it, so don't expect any replies. Same thing happened again tonight. I rebooted. It went away.

My "denied" access was once more logged to one of my children.
