Blocking specific websites

I would like to try to block specific web sites. (Got instructions on previous thread). Can you tell me what message will pop up if someone tries to access that blocked page?

Re: Blocking specific websites

I block sites using my computers hosts file.

what i get in the browser is a message on the screen that it is unable to connect.

Incidentally I recently had a malware attacked that amounts other things had removed  the hosts file and replaced it with a redirect to another site.

I hope this helps

Re: Blocking specific websites

Hi, austinsmeema. Try using SpywareBlaster as extra protection. That has Host File protection, and will block many malicious sites.

It also allows you to make a System Snapshot that you can use as a backup, if hit by malicious programs.

Re: Blocking specific websites

I went through the Firewall and added the web address to block the site and this seems to work. When you try to enter the site I get a pop up that says not able to connect, check settings, etc. Then it gives you the option to "fix" the problem, if you click on that it tells you Norton has blocked this web site and "click here to fix".

I really do not want there to be an option to "fix". Not sure how to work around that. I tried the host file procedure and just could not get it to work.
