Bluetooth not working

Hi all,

Thanks for checking this post.

I have purchased Kinivo BTD-400 Bluetooth 4.0 and it is not working on windows 7 64 bit. I have norton internet security installed. Thought to check here if my norton is blocking this bluetooth ? if yes anything needs to be changed on norton setting.

like firewall setting, any protocol allow or ports ? I have attached norton history screen shot of time when I installed this bluetooth.

thanks

Re: Bluetooth not working

The image you posted just shows normal startup functions of Norton, as your network is detected and protected. Nothing there about the Bluetooth device. So it seems you have restarted your computer since installing the device.

Have you checked Windows Device Manager to see if the device is detected, and if there are any warnings for it?

Have you installed the drivers from the manufacturer? You can download them here.

Re: Bluetooth not working

Thanks peterweb & Topopurim47 for your replies. Drivers from manufacturer are installed. I have attached device manager screen shot. device is detected by windows. There is a bluetooth icon on my taskbar. when I right click on it, I see open setting option. this option does not get opened.

I have windows 10 also on another partition on my laptop. I have installed same bluetooth there and it works fine.

open setting option also gets open.

Re: Bluetooth not working

If it works on your Win 10, but not in Win 7, there is obviously something in the Win 7 installation.

To try to see if Norton is involved, right click on the Norton icon in the system tray and click Disable Autoprotect, and Disable Smart Firewall. Then test to see if you can access/use your Bluetooth device. If you still cannot use the device, then Norton should not be part of the problem.

Re: Bluetooth not working

Do you have any other security product installed in Win 7? If so that could be conflicting with Norton, and causing issues like you are seeing. Even a trial version can cause problems.

Re: Bluetooth not working

kb3172605 was offered/installed back in july-i remember reading about it causing issues with bluetooth in win 7.
