Board of Protectors

I got an invite to Norton Board of Protectors.

Has anyone participated?    Is it legit?  Worth my time to participate?

The email from Norton had link to survey to see if eligible and link took me to a non Norton survey web site.  I immediately stopped.

I do not think it is SPAM, but how odd that a Norton email about data security takes you to a non Norton site without warning you that you will be re-directed to a non-Norton site?    To me that is red flag.

Re: Board of Protectors

I must have received the same invitation.  I was wondering if I had 30 minutes a week to participate.  It wasn't about the rewards, it was about my ability to contribute and learn from my friends with Norton.  I love Norton but as we know cyper-security is fast paced with no guarantees.  If I could help them help us - their customers - hey, I'm in.....but it is in my nature to be of public service.

I did not click the survey in the email because links in some emails can cause a lot of heart-aches.  If you clicked the survey link in this email, I recommend you run a full Norton scan on your computer before you turn it off for a hard-boot.  Welcome to cyper-wars!  That's why we pay for Norton!  Also, contact Norton tech-support to assist trouble-shoot with possible computer infection too.

I suggest to Norton that they consider developing a "board of protectors".  Nominations should go to people that link to this community chat/thread - "exclusive to customer-members only".

Additionally, Norton should make it easier to verify emails sent. - especially from Norton.

This forum thread is not resolved as long as we still have electricity or Norton develops the "Norton's Board of Protectors".  Although the proposed scam email may have been a lie, it was a good business idea and interesting one too.  I have a lot of recommendations just waiting for a tech team to develop.  My biggest one right now is Norton's secure internet connections - trusted and reliable internet in rural America.  Hughes Net cannot keep up!  Starlink may want a partner considering and Uncle Sam is showing you the money.

Or how about scam alerts through Norton?  Once reported by customers, it reports to other Norton customers of possible scams through Norton's notification system.  They just need to make it easier to report.  Give me a link on my Norton software window to report scams?  I get a lot - may be not all but close to it.....  Speaking of which, does Norton provide an email clean-up?  They could with their customer reporting data.

Lastly, I believe I have proven my point.  The email scammer, if it was, had a great idea for Norton to implement.  Sounds like you guys thought is would work.

Hey bjm, Thank for providing copy of email scam with the website link address. When you have the website, you can google information about the site. If you look online you will see it is not likely Norton commissioned the site because Norton techs would already know how to get the search engine to pull up the site. Laurie should request Norton Tech-support to assist with possible computer infection or hacks to her computer accounts as a result of clicking the link.

Okay Mr. Norton Fighter, you're suggesting that Norton customers go search for support with their concerns?  It took me five minutes to find this community thread and that was as a result of not finding the weblinks referenced above as well as no direct link for reporting suspicious Norton email.

Are you with Norton support or the Board of Protectors?

Re: Board of Protectors

I got the same invite, took the survey and it said I qualified then when you click on the link it takes you to Norton Board of Protector's login page but no place to register.

https://boardofprotectors.live/boardofprotectors

So Idk if its legit or not, I even emailed the support group for the survey that its powered by "Engine Group" and have yet to get a response.

I believe it looks legit but there is no way to register.

Re: Board of Protectors

This is a legitimate email from Norton.  I called Norton but you can tell by the email address and their logo and branding.  Basically, you will warn others about malicious websites and they have other activities and you can get points that can be redeemed.  The only part I don't like is the survey. It asks a lot of questions but I think it's used to group people.  He said something to that effect. I told him I'm going to make up an identity to protect my identity.  He said I could skip through some of the questions but I don't recall seeing a skip function.  I hope this helps.  I like the idea of this so I think I'm going to give it a shot.

Re: Board of Protectors

Update.  I just took the survey the questions were not that personal.  I didn't have to make up answers because the questions weren't intrusive as I thought they were going to be. However after I finished answering the questions, it didn't say that I was part of the community.  It just told me to close my browser.  So, I guess that means I didn't make the cut.
