A Bug In Norton Community Watch

Hello.

I updated my Norton Security to the latest version, yesterday. After the update, I found a bug in Norton Community Watch in Security History section.

As you can see, there's <br> between every line and an incorrect use of the tag <br> caused this. Please fix this in a little update.

I'll wait for a response here. Thank you.

Re: A Bug In Norton Community Watch

Why do you feel this is an incorrect use of the <br> html code? Log files are only for Norton support to diagnose problems, and what you see in the History is just a text version of the html. When you look at some listings of these error messages printed out, they do in fact get each item listed on a separate line. As would be indicated by these line break codes.

Why do you feel this is a CORRECT use of the <br> html code?

These reports are gonna be seen by users in the Security History; so that should NOT be like that.

If you know a little about html coding, you should know that the second tag name would be like </tagname>.

The bug is that the programmers didn't include forward slash (/) in their program code. This caused the bug.

I attached a screenshot of what I'm saying. You can see that all of second tag names does NOT include a forward slash.

Your explanation is completely unacceptable. Norton Community Watch reports used to be as a CLEAN report. When you checked it in previous versions, every line was correctly separated. This is a BUG.

I'm still waiting for a response from a Norton employee or someone who could help.

Here is the image. Please confirm that, admins!

Re: A Bug In Norton Community Watch

I'm not sure what you are expecting the code to do. In the History feature, it is just showing a text version of what was submitted to Norton Community Watch. The monitors at NCW would then open it in a browser that would use any formatting in the submission.

This formatting is not new to the latest version. Here is an example from Feb 27, 2019. A couple of weeks before the latest update.

Re: A Bug In Norton Community Watch

I expect to show each line separately. Just like before.

Showing like this, confuses the user.

I wonder why your Norton showed such a report in previous version.

Mine is showing like that exactly after the latest version!!! However, this is a bad bug and must be fixed.

Can you post a screenshot of the previous format?

Edit

I still had the older Norton version on another computer and can confirm the formatting has changed. Here is an image from the earlier version.

Re: A Bug In Norton Community Watch

Hello Pittbull

I noticed this issue also. The Norton Community Watch shows only 1 line. The rest you have to mouse over to see it and then you only see part of it. NCW can be helpful at times. If it was just for Norton Employees to see, then it doesn't have to be in the program. I do know that most or some have NCW turned off.

Have a Good Night and

Thanks.

Hello floplot. Thank you for your comment. Yes, I think the users DO need this feature, too.

Until now, the bug is NOT fixed.

I'm still waiting for a response here from a Norton employee or main administrator.

Just remember this is a minor bug that does not affect the protection of your devices. It is not something you are likely to see fixed in the next week or so. Most users do not even look at the Norton History. These kinds of fixes usually get rolled up in the next major update.
