Bug Report

I would like to report a glitch with the newest version of Norton Security Suite for Comcast 22.9.1.12. When updating to this version the file located at C:\Users\Public\Downloads\Norton\{COMCASTNSS227076-SOS-FSD5600}\symcdefs.exe no longer works and gives an error whenever I try to run it (screenshot attached). It never happened before this version. I reinstalled it and it initially works until I re-update to this version again.

Re: Bug Report

Maybe our resident NSS expert will have some ideas.

@yank, can you help this member?  Maybe a newer download link.

Thanks.

A little bit of knowledge is... well a little bit of knowledge.

Re: Bug Report

With a newer download link that I was given by support symcdefs.exe doesn't work right out of the newer download link and gives that error. I go to the older download link through the Constant Guard website and then it initially works right up to version 22.9.1.12

Re: Bug Report

Hi jweaver,

A few questions if I may - what is your operating system (including 32 or 64 bit), what was the link provided by Support and which Support (Norton or Comcast), and last but not least - why are you trying to run that file from that location?

Are you experiencing problems with updating your definitions?

It almost sounds like, you are using the incorrect definition file from the Intelligent Updater to attempt to update your definitions.

However with the little information I have about your situation, I may be out in left field.

Re: Bug Report

The link was provided by Norton Support. It is 64-bit. The only reason I run the file is because I was told by Norton Supoort to run that every here and there for maintenance purposes, I honestly don't what kind of maintenance though. They even verified the definition file was correct on the machine and that they are attempting to test it themselves and they will get back to me if they can or can not replicate the problem.
