Bug w/Sonar Advanced Protection

Hello,

I've recently renewed my NAV Protection and after finishing all the LiveUpdates I noticed the color was still red. The setting for turning on Sonar Advanced is greyed in all menus and further LiveUpdates turned up nothing. Looking for an answer on the forums had no results and I decided to post the issue here, in case the issue was not unique to me. My operating system is Windows 10 64-bit, which I upgraded from Windows 7 Home Premium. Thank you.

Re: Bug w/Sonar Advanced Protection

Have you restarted your computer?

If you use Windows 10, there can be an issue with the Fast Start feature.. See more information here.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Yeah, restarting worked. I don't use the fast start option though ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Anyway thanks for the help.

Re: Bug w/Sonar Advanced Protection

This happened to me today, too, but in Norton Security. While I was working on some business stuff, I glanced down at the taskbar and the normally green-checkmarked Norton icon had a red X through it. When I expanded, the screen said Sonar protection was not enabled. However, looking in the Advanced Settings, the toggle for Sonar was still in the "On" position and text said "on", but the toggle was grayed out. I restarted the computer, and all was well again. There were no logged messages about Sonar in the "History" log. Since this was the first time it happened to me, I guess I will just watch it per the KB article that Norton Fighter provided above.

I'm not sure how long it was red before I noticed it today. I hope I wasn't seriously at risk.

My question: Is there any info on this phenomenon; i.e., was it indeed disabled or is this a false flag? What is causing it?   I use Windows 7, and don't use a Fast Start.
