Can I require a password to change settings? Norton Internet Security -Xfinity ConstantGuard

Version 22.10.0.85  Windows 10. Is it possible to set a password to require changes to settings? I see how to do this with the Norton Internet Security. But the instructions don't seem to be valid for the Xfinity branded Norton Internet Security. Help article I found says: but doesn't seem to apply to the Constant Guard branded version.Only background tasks are available.

Secure your Norton product settings using a password

  1. In the Norton product main window, click Settings.

  2. In the Settings window, under Detailed Settings, click Administrative Settings.

  3. Under Product Security, in the Settings Password Protection row, move the On/Off switch to On.

  4. Click Apply.

  5. In the dialog box that appears, in the Password box, type a password.

  6. In the Confirm Password box, type the password again.

  7. Click OK.

  8. In the Settings window, click Close.

Re: Can I require a password to change settings? Norton Internet Security -Xfinity ConstantGuard

I finally figured it out. What I had done was changed my everyday profile from Administrative user to Standard user. So when surfing as Standard user, those options are not visible. So I logged into the Administrative user and the options were now visible. I was able to set the password for the settings.  I'm trying to be more security conscious with the increase in malware and I'm still getting used to the changes. Thank you. You can close this ticket.

Thank you!

Hi Loren Osborn2,

You got the correct solution as to why you could not make the change initially.  Norton started requiring the use of an admin privileged user account to make changes to settings with version 22.XX of Norton.

Also as you are asking about 2 Factor Authentication, you can also set it up on your Xfinity Account by following the instructions in the link below:

https://www.xfinity.com/support/account/enroll-2-step-verification/

Hope this answers your question.
