can i restore my pc with symantec image file

i have this file on my hdd, it's a .v2i file. I made it when I first built my pc so its a fresh recovery thing. So can I use it to restore my ssd because I want to free the space since its an sdd or will the only option be to reinstall windows 7?

You should be able to recover the image to the SSD. Is the image from the same SSD / PC? Is there only 1 partition on the computer in question?

Don't you have the install disc? It doubles as the Symantec Recovery Disc or SRD. If not, you can download it here...

ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/linked_files/Ghost/NGH1501_AllWin_English_SrdOnly.iso

Here's one way to create a bootable UFD...

Or you can use the free version of BCD Edit to make a bootable UFD and add the above ISO file.

Another one you could try is Easy USB Creator (also free). I've never tried it, but looks like it would work fine.

Is there somewhere I can download the iso? as I don't have the CD.
