Cannot Activate Norton

I have Windows 10 and I installed xfinity Norton Security Suite 22.5.2.15 on my 3 PCs (it did reuire at least 2 attempts for each PC). However when trying to activate the software, it was successfull only on one PC. On the other two I get a window saying "Communicating with the Norton Server", then a yellow circle turning, then the window closes, no error message, and the activation is still required.

Obviously I tried to uninstall and install, even used the Norton removal tool.

I chatted with Contact Comcast Supprt and they told me I need to create a seperate comcast username for each PC, which sounds strange to me, considering I never had to do it before.

Any ideas what to do ?

Re: Cannot Activate Norton

Hello Brent Clar

The current version of Norton Security Suite is version 22.9.5.9 Let's get our resident Comcast Guru yank in here to help you. He will most likely stop in here on Thursday morning. He's the one who can help you out. Come on in @yank !

Thanks.

That's not even close to right. Norton activations on Comcast and Comcast usernames are not connected. Comcast keeps a list of activated computer's on your account which you will never see unless it fills up, then it will ask you which one you want to deactivate. Sounds like it's not opening your default browser (for some reason) so you can enter your Comcast Norton key (aka pin). I think there was another post about a user with the same problem, they were also on windows 10.

Re: Cannot Activate Norton

Sorry I am late to this thread - but I never got the email notification that floplot flagged:

Here is the KB that covers your situation - please try it and let us know if it helps:

https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v113839121_EndUserProfile_en_us

FYI, what password-password stated is how Comcast tracks your installs.  You are permitted 7 and when you attempt the 8th you will see the list and be asked to remove one.

Also Comcast Norton Security Suite uses a Local Vault.  The Local Vault is tied to a Windows User - thus each Windows User Account on each system may have it's own Local Vault.  This may be what Comcast Support was trying to explain.  I have found Norton Support is much more helpful than Comcast Support when it comes to Norton issues.

Re: Cannot Activate Norton

Norton chat support wasn't available on the weekend and they were supposed to call me back, but still haven't heard from them.

Anyway, uninstalling with the Norton Removal Tool, deleting the folders as suggested by USAF_E-8_RET, and reinstalling, solved my problem on all the machines.
