The X in the Tamper Protection Box under Settings disappears. I turn it on but the next time I open settiings it is not checked.
Hi, hok. Does it still do this after a reboot ? Maybe a reinstall is in order.
You can use the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool, which will clean up your copy, if you've had this problem since the 126.96.36.199 update.
Alternatively, you can uninstall from the Control Panel/Programs and Features, reboot, then use the Norton Removal Tool, and download a fresh install from your Norton Account.
If you choose either, don't foget to run Live Update until no more are found.
It's possible your current install may be corrupted.
Thanks F4E :-)
I uninstalled it and installed another for the time being. I'll try again when I have some time. Self-disabling tamper protect is a deal breaker for me. Never happened before. I have now done complete scans with Kaspersky IS, Hitman Pro, Malwarebytes, and they do not show anything malicious on my system that could be causing this.
If you read an earlier post in a thread about a weird installation process, I think it was just a bad install.
My Port 22 remains blocked and unstealthed. Don't know why. It's been like that with all security suites I have tried in the past 24 hours. I recently installed a wireless modem/router. Could that be the cause - not my choice - I had to move and new landlord thinks typical wire stapled to the baseboard looks messy :-) I was perfectly content with my hard wire Surfboard. Don't feel secure with the new wireless set-up but have no real other choice. Only good thing about it is I can watch Netflix in bed on my phone w/o using up my Data limit on Virgin Mobile.
Hi, hok. You should be fine with a wireless router, as long as you use the most secure protocol.
Choose whichever suits your needs.
