Cannot purge old online backup

I have Norton Security with Backup and there is insufficient room online to backup my wife's laptop. Most of the online storage space is taken up by backups from a previous laptop no longer needed.

If I go to the MyNorton backup page the backup sets are shown but the only option is to view and download files. If I go to Nobu.backup.com as recommended in the video instructions, I am shown as having used 83% of 54 GB but no devices or backup sets are displayed.

How can I free up space?

Re: Cannot purge old online backup

Hi Bloater51,

Thank you for writing to us and sorry for the inconvenience caused. You can purge your older backup from online storage from the previous laptop. Below steps will help you :

Norton-> backup-> backup sets-> click Where tab-> Choose the online destination -> at the right side end corner click " Delete Backed up files"

or

Norton-> backup-> backup sets->  Click Summary tab-> Choose " Delete Backup Set"-> in next pop-up choose Delete backup set and files.

Thanks,

Siddarth

Re: Cannot purge old online backup

Thank you for that advice. Fortunately it is still possible to access the old laptop, though it is very sick. But the solution did not work, because it reports that the deletion action cannot be completed due to maintenance being performed on my online backup account.

The lock probably explains why I am unable to see or access my backups at https://nobu.backup.com/

Clearly this is something that requires action at the server end. Do I need to raise a new support case?

Re: Cannot purge old online backup

Hi @Bloater51,

Thank you for writing to us and sorry for the inconvenience caused. Yes, there was a Backend Maintenance going on while you tried to purge. Now the issue is resolved and you should be in the latest version 22.11.0.41 to purge, you can check the version at Norton ->help-> about.

To come to the latest version,  Please go to Norton-> Security pillar-> Run Live update until you see the version 22.11.0.41 in help-> about.

You can also try purging the data from the present PC\laptop,

Steps:  In present PC/laptop go to MyComputers/Computers/This PC -> You will see "Norton backup drive" along with other drives-> Choose and go inside that drive-> you will see all the backup sets from all your PC, Please choose which you wanted to delete and right click that backup-set and  choose Delete.

Thanks,

Siddarth
