Cannot REMOVE virus/trojan .exebind .hydra! help pls!!

Hi there. For the past few months, my Norton 360 5.0 had been telling me that the removal of these viruses have failed. 1. Hacktool.Hydra (pw-inspector.exe) 2. Hacktool.Hydra (hydra.exe) 3. Trojan.Dropper (joiner.exe) 4. Hacktool.Exebind (joiner.exe) 5. Hacktool.Exebind (sfx.dat) 6. Adware (airodump-ng.exe) Even when i start it using safemode, i'm still unable to remove the viruses. Please help me on this. I do a lot of online banking and I'm afraid that my private informations may leak out.

Do you think maybe damage has already been done?

Isn't there a link in the virus notification?

Hi, 2812818,

Yes, you really need to assume that all of your banking information, etc. has been compromised--especially if this has been going on "for the past few months!" You should contact any banks or eCommerce sites and let them know that unauthorized individuals may have access to your accounts--and also contact the three big credit bureaus to have a fraud alert placed on your records in case someone at the other end of one of these nasties tries to steal your identity.

But you're probably right in wanting to clean these up first, if you don't have access to another computer and (judging from what you just reported) would be tempted to keep accessing your accounts on a machine you know is infected--since doing so would simply again compromise the new passwords your financial institutions would set up. So at this point, it is best to refer you to the recommended forums, where a real malware expert can work with you one-on-one in real time to dig these things out. Some of our best folks here have checked them out to make sure that they are capable, and competent to deal with rootkits and other nasties. Most of them handle tricky Windows problems as well.

Just sign up for one of their free accounts--where required--and go to the forums; don't click on any of the ads! Note that some of these forums (like bleepingcomputer) require that once they begin working with you, you not consult any other sources on your infection until it's resolved--and will close your case if you do. This is important, to avoid confusion (and really bad outcomes) resulting from trying to follow several people's advice at once! LOL

Good luck, and please let us know how it turns out!

Hmm, seems strange. I had a ZeroAccess rootkit, Norton couldn't remove it but it removed it in safe mode!

I suggest you do a full system scan in safe mode ( If you haven't already ) But I'm only 14 years old I'm no Virus Expert!

Don't sell yourself short.  How young you are doesn't mean you don't know anything and how old you are doesn't mean you know everything.

When you get malicious logic, you should look for what it does and specific instructions on how to remove that particular virus--even if your security software removed it--so you can verify its removal.

I had registered in the http://forums.whatthetech.com/index.php?showtopic=120889
but nobody there replied me.
I've already solved the problem on my own. It appears that my norton was unable to remove the virus due to the fact that i've changed my account name of my laptop. It was a hunch. Therefore i changed my name back to the previous one and all those viruses were deleted. Pheww. Thanks for all of your help!
