Can't download multiple files from backup

Hi,

I have an online backup containing over 80Gb of data that I want to access. When I click on it I am only given the option to download each file individually, not en masse. I have tried the online help that suggests that I click on the computer symbol at the beginning and select "Restore files", but I don't have this option.

Any help to sort this out would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Can't download multiple files from backup

Hi Mr Chuffy.

Welcome to the Norton Community Forums.

Just how are you trying to do the restore?

Two ways you might try.

1 - Open Norton Security; select Backup; select restore; select the backup set under option 1; under option 2 "Files" check the box "Restore All Files and Categories".

2- Open Windows/File Explorer and go to This/My PC; open that and select the "Norton Backup Drive" (which should be shown as a virtual drive alongside any other drives on the machine); open that and select the online backup set in question; right click on that and you should get the option to "Restore" (restore whole backup to original location) or "Restore to.." (restore to a new location).

Does that help?

Re: Can't download multiple files from backup

Hi. Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately I don't have a Norton Backup Drive in File Explorer and when I go to Norton Backup restore I see a list of backups but each one only lets me download individual files, which will take a long time as there are lots of files! The attached file should sow what I get each time.

Re: Can't download multiple files from backup

Hello again Mr Chuffy.

It would appear that you do not currently have any live Norton software on your machine.  Is that correct?  If you do have Norton on your machine what is it?

Sorry but I am not experienced in the use of Norton Online Backup without Norton software on my machine which seems to be your case from what you have said and shown.

I look forward to hearing back from you.

Re: Can't download multiple files from backup

Hi. I have Norton 360 installed, version 22.6.0.142. It's all working except for the backup. I installed it in November last year after having 3-4 years away.

Re: Can't download multiple files from backup

If you have N360 then when you look at My Computer it should show the Norton Backup Drive as one of you drives.  Can you check again and let us know please.

Also why if you have N360 loaded do your images show that you were apparently trying to restore via NOBU?

I tried NOBU as this was a suggestion from a Google search. I do have Norton Backup Drive listed on My Computer, but it comes up empty, with no items available.

Re: Can't download multiple files from backup

Hello again Mr Chuffy.

I am sorry to say that I think I have run out of ideas and do not understand what you seem to be seeing (or not seeing).

I note from you latest pdf that it does not seem to show that Norton is running, neither does it seem to show a live internet connection.  Both of these issues would cause problems but I assume that you have checked on that and that the notifications are just hidden.

I am also puzzled as the image showing Norton Backup drive (empty) at the bottom of the screen but not on the list of drives...

As I no longer have N360 installed (I have been using Norton Security with Backup for some time.  I cannot be exactly sure what you should see in the restore options for N360 but I would still expect you to see an option to restore a complete backup set.

Unless anything else occurs to you, or me, then I would suggest that you might like to try three things.

1- Restart (not "shut down" and then switch on again, but a "restart") your computer and see if things are any different.

2-Consider an un-install and re-install of Norton.

3- Call the free 24 hrs Norton Internet Chat link.  They should have the latest information about all current Norton products and probably have access to some Norton servers.  We are only users of Norton products, they are Norton staff.

Sorry I have nothing more constructive to offer.

Good luck, and do let us know how you get on.  That way we are more likely to be able to help others in future.

Mike
