Can't exclude a risk I want to keep

I frequently use Mcafee/Foundstone's Superscan port scanner to troubleshoot our Windows 10 network. Norton Security (current version) flags it as a risk found every time it does a scheduled or idle scan, calling it a "Misleading application". I've told it to Exclude, and manually added exclusions for the program's folder (and for that matter, every file in that folder) and for the program's entry in the appdata\local\virtualstore\program files (x86) folder. How do I get it to be excluded once and for all? I don't want to exclude all port scanners, and I don't see a specific entry for it in the settings Signatures to Exclude from All Detections. TY.

Hello

Please send the file to VirusTotal and see what they say about the program.

If it comes back as clean from them, then you can submit it to Symantec so they can analyze it further.

I can see it being considered a threat properly, being a port scanner, but the question really is how do I tell Norton to leave a risk on my computer intentionally?

Hello

I don't think that tool will work with Norton Smart Firewall. Please see.

You need to exclude your folder from both Items to Exclude from Scans, and Items to Exclude from Auto Protect, Sonar and Download intelligence.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Can't exclude a risk I want to keep

Hi HandyPrice,

Go to Norton Settings as instructed above, but the option you want is "Signatures to Exclude from All Detections."  Click "Configure[+]" and then on the "Signature Exclusions" screen, click "Add."  Let the list of signatures populate (this can take a minute or two, so be patient).  Once the list populates, select "Misleading Applications" in the dropdown list and scroll down to Super Scan (it is near the very bottom) and add it to the list of signatures to exclude.

1) I had meant to say originally that I had excluded it from both those types of scans. (2) Our network has firewalls set to "Private" so port scanning does work.)

Re: Can't exclude a risk I want to keep

Sendofjives's answer to exclude it also in signatures seems to have worked. *But* begs the question of why excluding the programfrom all its locations didn't...
