Cant login to Ecobee website through Core

On my pc, connected via ethernet, I try to login to Ecobee website to access my device, and the page hangs, I get a blank screen or repeats the login screen. I cannot login.

On my phone, when using the core WiFi connection, same thing, cannot login to Ecobee. I turn off my wireless and use ATT for Internet and everything is fine, I login successfully.

With the core app I turn the inspection Level to "off", I can then successfully login to Ecobee via the computer or wireless. When I go back to default Inspection level, the problem returns.

I have changed DNS servers, rebooted router and have had gone through a couple of firmware updates and nothing helps.

Any suggestions as to what I should do?

Re: Cant login to Ecobee website through Core

Hello Tuor Check your Core app, tap the small bell in the top right corner. Under "activity feed or notifications"  see if there is an entry for that website being blocked and what the reason for that is being given. You can then allow access to it from there.

I don't see anything being blocked that has ecobee in name.

Hi @Tuor,

Is the website not loading on all devices? Have you turned on parental controls? Thanks.

Re: Cant login to Ecobee website through Core

Tuor As was previously suggested check to see if there were inadvertent parental control settings set for all devices. If that is not the case, power cycle your Core. Remove power for 1 minute and power up again. I can see the login in question without issue from this end.

Re: Cant login to Ecobee website through Core

2 computers, one wired, one wireless, both have problem.

From the app, under “People” there is only one item named “Shared”, within it “Parental Controls” was enabled. I disabled it, I think this helped, I can now “sometimes” connect. I had no need or intention in using parental control.

To be clear, it is when I submit my username\password that the problem occurs. Either a blank white page or it sends me back to login page. Sometimes I can submit several times within a minute and it eventually takes it after about 4-5 tries. Sometimes this is not the case. Right now using Edge and Chrome, both are failing, but an hour ago I connected quickly.

My cell phone is now connecting, with ecobee app, most of time using wifi from core. I actually have not seen it fail at all since I took parental control off.

Also this has been going on for awhile, weeks.

Re: Cant login to Ecobee website through Core

Tuor. Under "People" I have one entry named "Shared". Please note that it is set to "Unlimited". When I open that entry the next page also has "Parental Controls" enabled and the filter level is set to none. On the next screen listing all the devices in that zone there are none blocked or websites that are blocked. These are the areas to check for the issues you are seeing to determine whether Core is blocking or something else regarding the website itself is the issue.

Re: Cant login to Ecobee website through Core

When i re-enabled parental control and go looking for allowed/blocked websites, there is none listed.

Thanks.

Re: Cant login to Ecobee website through Core

That last firmware update (Firmware update v213) seemed to solve my problems regarding logging in to ecobee.

Re: Cant login to Ecobee website through Core

Tuor. If you are not getting any notifications on your Norton app that this site is being blocked, or have some category set for parental controls for your devices, your browser(s) settings are the logical issue.  I bogusly attempted to log in on that site and got exactly what I was supposed to see since I am not registered there. Using the default Core DNS. NSBU 22.11.2.7 and IE 11 on Windows 10 Pro x64 Fall Creators Update version 162990.125. Try using IE and see if you get the same issue to replicate.
