Can't see any destination drives when booting Norton Ghost 15 from USB

Computer has no DVD rom. Made usb to boot from. Running Windows 8. Made necessary change to bios so the mouse and keyboard work. Everything works in Norton ghost 15 until I get to destination drive. I have 2 external hard drives plugged in. Can see either one. They are showing up when I log into regular Windows. Obviously without the destination drive I can't make the image. Anyone had this problem before and if so how did you fix it?

Norton Ghost 15 doesn't support Windows 8 you can install it but it won't activate.

There is a fix, you can try this link courtesy of RedK https://community.norton.com/en/forums/how-activate-ghost-15-windows-81-and-probably-windows-10

I put it on 8 other window 8 computers that have built in cd Roms without any problems. I have 3 more computers that do not have cd Roms. Therefore I created a bootable floppy. As I said before everything is working until I get to the destination area for the backup image to be made. I can't see any of the external drives I have plugged in.

Could you confirm the version of Ghost your using that allows 12 systems and can use a bootable floppy?

Ghost solution suite maybe?

What does your bootable floppy do?

Bootable floppy? My bootable USB works fine. I'm getting the impression you don't understand the program. I'm trying to backup a computer with no DVD drive. In order to boot into ghost 15 I created a bootable USB. The program works fine. As it goes through the process it asks where I want to put the disc image. When I click to pick the location there are none available. I have 2 external hard drives plugged in but the program does not see them. Obviously in order to back up the image there has to be a destination.

I actually understand the program fairly well, I have even used it a couple times and read the instructions twice.

Your post above says "Therefore I created a BOOTABLE FLOPPY".  That is why I asked the questions.

Then I would assume your using USB3 external drives.  Ghost 15 does not support USB3 through the recovery disc.  The recovery disk is based on Windows Vista PE and since it is a limited version and not the whole operating system it does not support USB3.  Adding drivers won't work since USB needs BIOS as well as operating system support.

Plug your external into a USB2 port, some users have also needed to use a USB2 cable for it to work.

See if that works for you.

I'm getting the impression you don't understand the program.

I'd bet Dave knows Ghost 15 better than most at Norton ... uh I mean Symantec, err.. Veritas.

Why o why do people keep using this outdated software on newer PCs? Not updated in 7 YEARS!

Maybe because that's what we own.

It's like trying to put a water pump from a 1979 Ford onto a 1987 Chevy. It just don't fit.

It's about time they all got the message when using Ghost 15 and Win 8, Win 10. Well said Red and Dave, I missed he had started a new thread mainly because I don't visit the site very often now that Veritas has taken it on.

Re: Can't see any destination drives when booting Norton Ghost 15 from USB

I need help with Norton Ghost 15.

Many years ago, I bought this product in a licensed shop in Hong Kong.

I went on to use apple mac, and just got a new windows 10 system, however, when entering the product key,

it comes up as invalid.

I don't want to buy a new symantec ghost product, just because Norton shifted their ship to a new direction.

What can be done?
