cant use my comp ( says my password are wrong)since tech from Norton had remote access

This morning I allowed a tech from Norton remote acces to my a computer to fix a issue I have with the vault. The tech then rebooted my computer and when the screen came back up well it will NOT  allow me to lock back into my computer. My password I use to lock in and any other old password is not accepted.

i spend time with a NOT helpful Csr who finally moved my case to eascaltion but we are talking 48 hr wait or so. I asked if the can tell me why there tech did but all they said its not possible tha our tech did something wrong...............

 I have rebooted my computer now numerous times, nothing   Help

i am using a  HB computer and window 10

Use your phone or another pc. You are obviously using something cause you can post. Please read the links I sent you.

Had to bring my computer in for repair could not fix what Norton tech broke.

what pisses me off is the incompetence from the support  I did not receive  and that iam stuck now with paying money to fix my computer that was perfectly fine before I allowed remote acces what will NEVER happen again.

norton Asa product is great customer support sucks

Did you contact the Official Norton Support? How did you get to them? Just checking because there are a lot of scammers out there who say they are Norton techs when they are not. Did you use www.norton.com/chat   ?

Yes I of course went over the Norton website to make sure I talk to the right people.

at this point my computer is at the repair store and hopefully it will not require to much to fix it.

norton tech called me back yesterday after I had dropped my computer off already.

still 

norton regular CSR is terrible, reading from a script and trying to fix something and no accountability when something goes wrong was not ok. Not listening to the customer who says I need more help and wasting my time going overnthensame thing over and over again ,mtelling me that there tech could never have done anything to your computer etc.

One consequence for me I will now no longer permit  acces to my computer to anyone remtotly since this happend .

As a help to others, can you find out from the computer store what they had to do to fix your computer?

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

I honestly cannot comprehend this. Microsoft even tells you how to reset your password.

It can help identify what the agent did.

But the fact remains that the OP has forgotten their password. Something we should all guard against. Write it down somewhere safe.

patricia m, FWIW ~ I recall a remote session when the representative asked me for my Windows user account password.    I questioned why the rep needs my password.  Rep explained that with my password, rep can restart machine (and sign-in) without me waiting at the machine while rep worked.  Rep explained after remote session I may change my password.  Just sharing.

Is this the prompt you get?

If so, this is a trick commonly used by scammers to force their victims to pay for unwanted services.  It involves using Syskey to create an encrypted password, known only to the scammers, that is then required to start Windows.  If you had gone to a tech support site that was claiming to be Norton, but was actually an unscrupulous imposter, this might have been what happened.
