Changing from NS to NS with Backup

I currently have NS installed which will expire soon. I just purchased NS with Backup (key only) on Amazon. Do I have to uninstall NS or can I just enter the NS with Backup key? If I need to uninstall first, what is the best way to do that? Where can I get the download for NS with Backup? Do I need to create a new Norton account or can I just change the keys in my current account? This will be used on both Windows 7 and Windows 10. Thanks for any help with this.

Re: Changing from NS to NS with Backup

hi Catluvr

You should be able to install NSwB over the current installation of NS the installation will take care of anything.

You can download the current version of NSwB from the link below:

Norton Security with Backup

It is a direct link to the download so will ask you to download within a few moments of going to the page, you can stop the download and bookmark the page for when you are ready to install.

You don't need a seperate Norton Account the download will attach to the account once you activate with the key where it will ask to enter your email account used for the account and password once it is installed.

Re: Changing from NS to NS with Backup

hi John7

I have no experience of this although, thinking about it there should be no reason why not but other users may be able to advise.

Norton Security (NS) and Norton Security with Backup (NSwB) is exactly the same with the exception of the backup facility and NSwB is available for upto 10 devices instead of 5. There is no need to use the Backup facility if turned off NSwB is exactly the same as NS

I don't know how you usually renew your subscription, if through Norton, NSwB is normally about 10 $/£ more expensive however, it is often possible to obtain NSwB more cheaply than NS through local retailers either in-store or online. Purchasing a key for the NSwB when you can enter it on your Account via the Norton UI which would avoid any installation or possible uninstall then install. Just a thought .

Just follow Michael's instructions above to install your new version over the old. The new installer will uninstall the Backup version and then install the regular Norton Security. Download the installer from  www.norton.com/latestns

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
