Chrome not working when turning on/off wireless

Every time I turn off my wireless radio to conserve battery, then turn it back on, my Google Chrome loses access to the internet unless I disable the smart firewall in Norton Internet Security.  Often, when I try to open up NIS at this point, it crashes and IE loses the ability to connect to the internet as well.  I lose a lot of important work this way, and it has been doing this for a long time.  Please help.

Are you refreshing or restarting your browser after restarting your wifi?

What operating system are you using?

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Yes, I am restarting my browser.  I am using Windows 8 64-bit.

Re: Chrome not working when turning on/off wireless

Hi, Stoney. Do you shut down Windows 8, as per the Microsoft instructions ?

Norton requires Windows 8 to be properly shut down to update correctly.

Also, just check that your browser access in the Norton Firewall is set to Allow, rather than Auto.

Reinstalling Norton using the Remove and Reinstall Tool may help, as it will refresh your install. http://www.norton.com/nrnr

If used, please read the Before you begin note, and run Live Update after, until no more are found. Rebooting often helps, too.

Re: Chrome not working when turning on/off wireless

Restarting after I turn my wifi back on seems to enable browsing again, but is only a workaround, which is what I've had to do for quite a while now.  My problem is that if I forget to turn my wifi back on before shutdown/reboot and using chrome again, I tend to open chrome, realize the problem when it cannot access the internet, open Norton, watch it crash and freeze my computer, and then I have to restart and I lose all my session data this way.  Because I don't turn my wifi off very often, and sometime Nrton will allow me to turn off the firewall without crashing, I do not always remember to load my entire session (with "unable to access the internet" errors on every page) before opening Norton.  I have lost many hours of work this way.  If this bug cannot be fixed, I was hoping for a less catastrophe-prone workaround.

Under normal circumstances Norton will not crash. I'd try the re install, and see if that helps your connectivity issue.

At least it will eliminate Norton as a cause.
