ClearScore - can't log-in

Last year one of my daughters recommended that I join ClearScore (www. clearscore .com). It's a new UK company (July 2105) and not only does it monitor credit ratings & recommend products based on them eg mortgages but they also alert you to anyone making a credit check on you - a good anti-fraud weapon.

But I've never been able to log in - since I first tried at the end of last October the login box is light blue instead of clear and won't let me proceed.

Their first suggestion was that perhaps I missed a procedure when I signed up. They cancelled my account so that I could sign up/start over again but there's no change. They suggested using a different browser (no change on Chrome - I usually use IE11).

Now they hinting that it's my Firewall/anti-virus software. I can't try with my Norton switched off but I tried with my Vault closed - no change.

As my Vault was switched off, it can't possibly be Norton but I'm clutching at straws now - can anyone think of any other reason it might be Norton? It's a single-stage log-in by the way.

Their site is rated as Untested - might this be a factor or to put it another way if they asked Norton to test their site would the test pick up this potential problem (eg they may have missed doing something)?

Norton will not prevent you from logging into a website unless safe web marked it as dangerous. This is not a Norton issue.

Um, I'll presume you're allowing third party cookies & third party scripts & you've tried other browsers & have agreed to Privacy Policy n' Term and still cannot login?

Re: ClearScore - can't log-in

I've just had this reply from Clear Score: "We've had a lot of interest in the site recently, and it looks like you may have experienced some slow loading times as a result. We think we've fixed the problem so you should now be able to log in successfully. It may also be worth trying to log into ClearScore from different devices/browsers (e.g. Laptop, Google Chrome, updated iOS/Android version etc.). We've recently experienced some issues with Internet Explorer 11, however other browsers should work fine."

@PatsSoxBruins. Thanks - but what made me wonder was that instead of going straight to the Sign-in screen I also went via their home page - at first, the login box had a white background but a split-second when the Vault auto-filled my details, it changed to blue, which then blocked the process.

@bjm_ Yes, I have the same results with Chrome - sorry my first post wasn't very clear. I don't remember blocking third party cookies and scripts but my problem now is that I can't open my account to check. I've asked Clear Score if they can access it to check. I doubt it, though - those kind of sites are supposed to ring-fence users accounts.

In one of my previous jobs, I used to stay at two hotels a week. On average, on a third of my checking-in, the hotel's computer system crashed. Where I live - beautiful countryside in Yorkshire - we're probably 950 feet above sea-level; the highest stretch of UK motorways is only a few miles away. I used to joke that my crashing hotel computers was caused by the Chernobyl incident - I believe that if I could fly at this altitude east, the first land I came to is the Russian Steppes. Given the number of PC problems where it only happens to me, I'm being to believe my joke. Or perhaps it's my magnetic personality! As it. Ah well, we'll see. Thanks for your help!

Those settings are in your browser on your computer. Nothing you set on an individual web site.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: ClearScore - can't log-in

Clearscore website barely works properly anyways , I have tried logging in now and it does not work.

It happens all the time with them , try logging in on your mobile phone it usually works weirdly enough.

Re: ClearScore - can't log-in

Hello Peter. My Advanced Privacy Settings (IE11 for win10) are set to accept First-Party & Third-Party Cookies (as that was suggested years ago that I do) and session cookies are allowed too.

Because I still couldn't log-in I assumed that perhaps I didn't tick the correct settings when I first joined Clear Score.

Re: ClearScore - can't log-in

If others have reported issues logging in, and even the site owners have told you there could be problems, it does not sound like it is necessarily on your computer.

If you really want to rule Norton out, using a Windows Admin account, right click on the Norton icon in your system tray and Disable Smart Firewall. Choose the shortest time and try the login page again. Then reverse the procedure to turn on the firewall again. AutoProtect will still protect you if there is something amiss on that site.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
