Comcast Norton Security Suite & Toobar Not Working in FF 17 or 18

Am currently running the Comcast Norton Security Suite & FF 16.  If I update to FF 17 or 18, the Nortol Toolbar Add On will not work.....tried live update/etc.

Any suggestions???

Also, the Norton "update me now" or autodetectpkg.exe doesn't locate any Norton software.....though it's running on my PC?????

Please tell us which version of Norton Security Suite (NSS) you are running by going to Support on the main page of NSS and selecting Support and then About.   Also be aware,if you are running an older version of NSS - the newer versions of FF will not run and the support for FF 16 has been droppped by Norton for older versions of NSS - so let us know which version you have and we'll do our best to assist you in getting updated with both NSS and FF.

Thanks for the feedback.  Version 5.2.2.3 is at least 2 versions behind as far as NSS is concerned and the latest vrsions of FF will not run on it.  I suggest you follow the instructions in the followng Norton Security Suite FAQ I have posted (I use a different user name over there) on the Comcast Forum  in order to get your version of NSS up to date and once that occurs - we can go from there if all is not well.

NSS was upgraded to 20.2.0.19

Followed export/import directions for identity information:

- Upgraded FF to 18, Norton toolbar is uncompatible

- On IE 9, all of my logins are gone.....

Looking at my thumbdrive for Norton identity backups, all information is gone.

Appears all of my identity login's & passwords are gone (toast), not good!

Update: Norton toolbar working on FF18 (downloaded patches, updates, etc)

Bad news: lost all of my identity information, import apparently did not work......

Sorry to hear you are having difficulties with ID Safe data.  You said looking at thumbdrive, Norton ID backup - all information is gone.   Are you saying the information is not there - no folder, no nothing?  Did you follow the instuctions provided in the link I gave you which should have taken you to this:  http://forums.comcast.com/t5/Security-and-Anti-Virus/How-to-Export-Import-NSS-Identity-Safe-Data/m-p/870739 ?

I would imagine you have rebooted since the upgrade and please try again to verify there is no Backup data.  If it is thee try to Import again.

If no joy, you can try to the following - but no promises it will work.  Please note the N 360_20.1.0.24 may be a different number dependent on when you first installed NSS - but will be a V 20 number.

In XP:

C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Norton\{0C55C096-0F1D-4F28-AAA2-85EF591126E7}\N360_20.1.0.24\IdentitySafeDataStore



In Vista/Win 7:

C:\ProgramData\Norton\{0C55C096-0F1D-4F28-AAA2-85EF591126E7}\N360_20.1.0.24\IdentitySafeDataStore\S-1-5-21-1845553030-3031872880-4008053321-1001\IDDStore2.dat



1. Copy the Identity Safe data folder to a new folder in a convenient location on your computer.

2. In the Identity Safe Settings Window select Import Data > Configure [+]
3. In the Import Identity Safe Data window, 'Browse' to the new folder you just created in step 1
4. Double click the folder to open it and select the file IDDStore2 > Open.
5 .Under 'While importing data', select 'Merge with existing data' and click OK. You may be prompted to enter the password for the old data.
6. If you have changed any login credentials for a particular site since the older data was created, you will be presented with a Data Conflict window. Select which login version you wish to keep and click OK.
7. OK your way out and check that the merged logins have been added and are working.



Let us know how things work out.

I followed your Windows7 instructions & located the file, then imported & merged the data.  It appears to be working.....whew!

(btw: the feature functionality is much better with this version)

You are quite welcome and I am pleased that you got your logins back.

Just for future reference I try to keep the Norton Security Suite FAQs  on the Comcast Security Board up to date and will also list the most recent updates/upgrdaes to NSS - so by checking there periodically, you can stay on top of the upgrades.
