Computer Not Online? But - it is!

Just paid $50 for this new Norton Online Backup, and I'm not too happy.  First the Norton site seems to be down, and after performing at least a partial backup, now it tells me that my "Computer Not Online", when, in fact, it is.

Someone please help.

Thanks,

Bob

Re: Computer Not Online? But - it is!

Sorry. I can't help. I have had my product since December last year. Mine is also showing as not online when it is. I keep getting an error when I restore a file. Also, I backed up my old computer - but it is now telling me I have not backed up any files from that computer. So the best help I can give you is that you might want to save your files to something else too. Norton doesn't seem to be working.

Well, if this doesn't get fixed, the answer will be that I will dispute the credit card charge and not pay for this.  Hopefully it will get addressed, however, so I don't have to resort to that.

Getting the same problem, sometimes going to ADD a computer and letting it reinstall and then restarting the PC solves the problem and sometimes it doesn't.

Ilmor,

The issues that were ongoing have since been resolved and all is working as normal. Please advise if you see otherwise.

If you're dissatisfied with the product contact support via http://www.norton.com/chat and request a refund. They will issue one for you since you recently just registered. I would strongly advise against filing a dispute since that would be classified as fraud since you did make a legitimate purchase and we do offer the ability to request a refund. The whole process will take less than ten minutes if you decide to proceed. Also note filing such disputes on legitimate charges is one of the reasons why people pay higher credit card fees. Those disputes you file cost a minimum of $30 plus the charge.

Re: Computer Not Online? But - it is!

Hi Kev

The issue you seem to be encountering is not directly related to the issue initially described. The NOBU agent installed on your computer makes a periodic connection to our back-end servers. When it can't make that connection the website will show that computer offline. A reboot restores that connection which in turn fixes it for you. A lot of times power management is to blame for the communication loss. If it happens often I'd try disabling hibernation/sleep and see if the issue persists.
