computer not recognized/error when trying to restore

My computer's main hard drive failed last week and I had it replaced. I tried connecting to NOBU but it listed my computer with a different name. So, I disconnected, renamed the computer and workgroup to match the old computer but it's still not recognized. It doesn't show my upgraded computer anymore, just the old name but says "Computer Not Online".

I tried to restore the files anyway but I get the following error message when I click on File Actions/Restore Files:

-----------------------------------------

Something went wrong

Norton Online Backup is sorry something went wrong and will look at it right away.

-----------------------------------------

Please help ... I don't know what else to do.

Re: computer not recognized/error when trying to restore

Hello Kirk,

We have had the engineers look at your account and they have corrected the "Something went wrong" message for you.  For the information you posted about how to restore I can see that the directions were misunderstood partially.  When your HD dies, or even if you just have a fresh installation of windows the software will create a new profile for your new installation.  This is expected and desired.

Please follow these steps when restoring from an old profile to a new profile:

1.If the profiles are named the same please rename the old profile so you can tell the difference when trying to restore.

2.From the main window on the profile that has the data you need to restore please click "File Actions" and choose "Restore"

3.In the next window choose "Show Options" in the top right.

4.Please choose the "Restore To" profile from the drop down box.  (This should be the current installation or the PC where you want the data to go.)

5.Next choose a restore date if you need an older set to restore from.

6.Now you can choose to either restore the whole data set or restore specific files.

7.Finally click "Restore Now" at the bottom.  Please remember that canceling a restore will delay your ability to start another restore immediately.
