com.symantec.mes.systemextension still uses Hi CPU after complete uninstall/reinstall

I am running Norton 360 9.1.0 with Mac OS Big Sur 12.5.1 on an Intel Mac Mini (2018).  Since MacOS 12.5 this Mac mini drags and hangs up repeatedly after waking up from sleep.  Using Activity Monitor, I notice that process com.symantec.mes.systemextension is using anywhere from 50-140% CPU.  I followed the Norton 360 web site instructions to completely uninstall Norton 360, including a command script to delete hard drive files.  After restarting I reinstalled Norton 360 to its current 9.1.0 version.  This didn't resolve the com.symantec.mes.systemextension process CPU usage.

Any suggestions? thanks!

Can you post this publicly? I'm having the same issue, as well as a number of others.

Not sure how to publish "publicly", sorry.  Feel free to send me assistance.

I did send some log files to one of the Norton members per their request.  I'm waiting to hear back.

BTW, I upgraded the intel Mac mini(2018) from Big Sur 12.5.1 to 12.6 today.   I also ejected a external SSD that I normally I keep attached (and have NEVER had any issues with).  For just the couple hours that this configuration has been running the problem seems to be less severe but not non zero.  When I have the external SSD running the problem is more severe - including the external drive indicator constantly blinks (which means the drive is being accessed) although I am doing nothing with it. Pretty bizarre.

My M1 MBA and 2017 iMac are still on version 8.8.  An old MBP 2010 is running 8.75.  It was interesting to see version 9.10 mentioned.
