Confirmation before deleting

I’m in the Norton 360 V3 trial period and I’m close to purchase it. However there is something that is bothering me. I see that its antivirus automatically deletes files when it finds viruses. I want to be notified and get a confirmation before it starts to delete things.

I have looked at the settings and don’t see any options. The only confirmation option is for compressed files. Does the Internet Security Suite give more options than 360?

Re: Confirmation before deleting

No, for some reason norton products delete files even if you don't want it to...... they say it deletes the "high risk" files (only). But either way, it sometimes deletes what we don't want it to delete...... the only way around this is to add that file to exclusion list........ hope they'll fix this in 2010

Ok, so, at least are we sure what it deletes is not just a false positive? Because I had another reputable security suite that just ended and it didn’t recognize any of these necessary-to-delete security risks.

Hi -

You can compare 360 vs. NIS 2009 HERE.

They are both fine products. I favor NIS 2009. That's what I would go with.

Re: Confirmation before deleting

it deletes everything that it can see as "high risk"

as for false positives, norton did very good in the tests and it came out on top therefore I wouldn't worry much about false positives :)

Could you please elaborate why? I want to know if I get 360, I’m not missing anything over NIS. Someone told me that NIS gives more control and customization than 360, is that true?

Re: Confirmation before deleting

Hi Zolder -

I feel that it does give me more control - that is my opinion.

However, they both use the same real time threat engine.

360 just has a few more user friendly bells and whistles.

See the comparison link in my above post.

Thanks.

Re: Confirmation before deleting

Yes I have seen the list. I have no use for Backup but Tuneup could be nice if it's effective. But first, I want all the Anti-Virus/Firewall settings be the same in 360 v3.Message Edited by Zodler on 04-07-2009 02:23 AM

Re: Confirmation before deleting

I have noticed that NIS doesn't give right-click context menu integration but 360 does. Is this correct? How do you quickly scan a file in the explorer with NIS?

Re: Confirmation before deleting

NIS also has the context menu integration not sure why you don't have it
