consent.exe and wermgr.exe,Download insight says safe

Hi all,

It has been awhile since my last visit, greetings to those people I new way back then, and to all you new guys.

I havent been using the PC much so was surprised when this consent.exe and wermgr.exe kept popping up in Nortons Download insight. I do note there was another thread started but is locked so its not helpful. I am on Win 7 and want to stay that way,I guess my question is are these exe's safe as download insight says they are? and is this because win 7 is becoming redundant and has something to do with win 10?

I am still fairly clueless about the inner workings of windows etc,Id just like some clarification if anyone else has had this issue and whether its something to be concerned about or not. I have been googling but have not found anything just as yet about my issue

thanks for any insight!!

Cheers Mo Windows 7 64 bit, NIS2013

Re: consent.exe and wermgr.exe,Download insight says safe

For concent.exe    see this info from file.net   https://www.file.net/process/consent.exe.html

For wermgr.exe    see this info from file.net    https://www.file.net/process/wermgr.exe.html

For both files, scroll down to the file information where it shows where you should find these Windows system files on your system. As long as the files found on in Norton Download Insight are located in the correct location, you should have nothing to worry about.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: consent.exe and wermgr.exe,Download insight says safe

Hi,

Thanks for the links, they both seem to be in the right spot in my machine.

When I look at whats happening in the firewall history its says they are launched rather than downloaded. So I am assuming they are in my system already and download insight is just picking them up for whatever reason. They have all been created/modified this year and are Microsoft signed.
