Constant Popups

Hi. I'm on Chrome, 64 bit, Windows 10. I've just started receiving Popups from Norton Internet Security telling me (for example) "f_000111 is not safe and has been removed". They're constant, but the value f_****** keeps changing.

I reinstalled Chrome, and also tried the Norton deep clean thing, but still no good. I also manually cleaned the cache.  Frustrating!

Any ideas as to how this can be sorted out?

Thank you.  Nick...

Trojan.Gen.NPE is a generic detection for non-PE threats for which specific definitions have not been created.
Files that are detected as Trojan.Gen.NPE are considered malicious. If you have reason to believe that your files are incorrectly detected by Symantec products, you can submit them to Symantec Security Response for further analysis.

Um, is there another Norton history event associated (time stamp) with  f_****** event?

Re: Constant Popups

Okay....no rush.   May be best to close running programs (e.g., browser, etc.) while scanning.

Re: Constant Popups

OK. So Malwarebytes cleaned up about 150 issues. I uninstalled Nectar. And I ran the Chrome cleanup. Between them, it looks like the problem is solved as there are no more Popups.

Thanks for all the pointers. Really appreciate it. Please take the rest of the evening off!

Re: Constant Popups

I don't really have a problem with the threat popups that just started appearing recently BUT I don't want to see  them every few seconds.........its distracting and annoying. I have no idea why these notifications just started to appear and what is triggering them and I have read the forum posts on this subject. I don't have Nectar and have not added any Chrome extensions, etc and am the only one using the computer.

Bottom line...can I turn off the notification popup? I checked all the settings and don't see a way to do it.

Thanks so much

Terri
