Core Security Plus

Last week , I pre-ordered Norton Core.  I currently have Norton Security Premium with Backup.  After the pre-order I downloaded and installed the included software, Core Security Plus.  The install didn't seem to change anything on my computer.  It seems to be the same product with a different name.  My issue started when my software went to perform a backup.  Pretty much the same think happened as user "Disiplec". On my local software it showed 0gb of online backup, and would crash whenever i tried to log in.  My subscription showed I had 32gb free when looking at my account on Norton website.

Not being able to figure the problem out on my own, I contacted online support through Chat feature.  Very friendly and Helpful.  The used remote connection to control my computer to try and fix problem.  The first technician worked on the problem for about 45 minutes.  Removing my Premium software and installing new Core software.  Same result at the end.  He transferred me to a level 2 Technician, who worked on my computer for 30 minutes or so, Removing any and all traces or Norton/Symantec from my computer, Registries and all.  After him erasing and installing, Backup showed my available space and everything seemed to be up and working.  I thanked him and we parted ways.   The next day I checked my system and things were good.  I logged onto my account on the Norton website, to find he just reinstalled my Norton Security Premium.  (Not the Core Security Plus)

So, now I wonder if I should try to install Core Security again, or just wait to receive the actual Core router, and Hope Norton has fixed the issues by then? Not sure what to do.

P.S.

Does Norton Core Security Plus, still come with Online backup?

Re: Core Security Plus

The Core Security Plus software is the same product as your Norton Security Premium, except for the number of devices you can install on. The NS Premium gives you up to 10 devices, while the Core Securty Plus covers unlimited devices. And it does come with the backup feature.

Check your Norton Account to see what is listed regarding the number of installs on which product.   https://my.norton.com   Click on My Norton at the top right and then on My Subscriptions. Click on the little 'i' beside the product names to see how many devices the product is installed on.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Core Security Plus

The Main issue is the fact that when I originally installed Core Security Plus, it didnt recognize my online backup.  So after dealing with Norton Tech service, they removed Core Security Plus and reinstalled NS premium.  Now I am worried that,  if I try to reinstall Core Security Plus, I will run into the same issue with online backup not showing up.

Re: Core Security Plus

As the Core Security Plus software is just the Norton Security Premium with a different product key that allows for unlimited devices, you should be able to just enter the key from the Core Security Plus subscription into your current NSP product. Then you would be able to contact Norton Support to have them add the remaining time from your old subscription to the new Core subscription.

Unfortunately I have no way to test this as I do not live in USA and do not have access to the new software.

Re: Core Security Plus

I had the same issue.  I never activated the subscription I had previously.  I logged in with another computer (my son's) that had my original Norton subscription I activated it.  I then used my Core Security Plus software on my laptop and I was able to then backup with Core Security Plus software.  The interesting thing is that my old subscription has a different amount of space available to backup than the default for Core.   When I do a backup with Core software it shows the available space of my old subscription (which is greater) not the amount Core gives you.
