Core Security Plus - Key Canceled

My Norton Core Plus Subscription won't activate on my new macOS 10.14 installation. I always get an "invalid product key" or "canceled product key" error, while the windows version activates just fine using my Core Subscription.

I contacted Norton Support twice already and while they were trying to help me, nothing actually worked. We've uninstalled and reinstalled Norton, manually entered the product key that's shown next to my Core Subscription on my Norton Account - and still the same activation error.

Is this related to macOS 10.14, or a general error with the activation system?

Re: Core Security Plus - Key Canceled

From the system requirements for the Norton Security products.

  • Current and previous two versions of Mac OS.

So that should not be the problem.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: Core Security Plus - Key Canceled

Hello denegare. I have asked the Core Admin for assistance with your issue. There are a couple other threads where there are issues with Norton products activations/subscription renewals are not working. Although the Norton services status shows green there may be a backend issue being worked on. Hopefully someone will chime in with some info on the issue.

Cheers

Re: Core Security Plus - Key Canceled

When I last used NS Norton Remove and Reinstall tool, a NS trial version was installed by the process. It/I tried to activate, but it repeatedly failed. So, it seemed logical for me to uninstall and reinstall without using the norton tool. That is just a plain uninstall, deleting data, and reinstall using the add device option under My Norton. And I made sure to delete any unused devices, including the one that had just failed to activate. Once install finished, the activation completed.

My other thought is if you have asked to add subscription days from a previous NS installation to your Core NS subscription days, the earlier subscription with 0 days may still be out there. So, it seems that might cause an issue.

Anyway, if the above doesn't fix your issue, maybe it will lead you in the right direction.

Thank you. The activation window even shows the subscription to use - but something goes wrong then.

Re: Core Security Plus - Key Canceled

After two calls from Norton support and two chats with different service agents, my issue solved itself. I was finally able to activate my Norton earlier today, out of the blue.

Without precisely knowing what was going on in the background I can only assume that someone at Symantec finally figured out what was going wrong because none of the service agents I had the pleasure to have a conversation with actually knew what was going on - or what was wrong in that case.

Re: Core Security Plus - Key Canceled

Awesome news. I believe there was a backend issue the past couple of days preventing activations. Hoping that was the case as other products were failing activation as well.
