D Bortoli

I have Norton 360 using Windows 10.

I have been having trouble with Norton Security Backup for years, after three I was finally able to miraculously delete N360_BACKUP, it was taking up 2.72 TB of space. Why is deletion made impossible for the subscriber, which is a last resort due to unexplained process errors? Deleting that specific set didn’t help. Finally I tried backing up to a clean HD & a large thumb drive, both times, again, I get a process error during first backup. Please tell me the proper way to delete N360_BACKUP so I can clear the way for a better product. …..[private identifyable information removed by Admin]

I have asked for your email address to be removed from your post.  Posting that in an open forum is a good way to get on a spammer's list or lists.

A little bit of knowledge is... well a little bit of knowledge.

Re: D Bortoli

You may not be able to remove items from Norton Security with Backup due to the Norton Product Tamper Protection feature. That stops Norton files from being accidentally deleted.

You can remove the backup sets using the instructions in this Norton KB.  https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/v19828921_ns_...

If you no longer want the backup features, just turn off the backup feature in Norton Settings.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

Re: D Bortoli

Since I needed to log in, I thought I was secure. I'm new to this & normally never use forums.

I was able to finally create a backup, but still wish to confirm the proper way to delete the N360_BACKUP folder. I have read other users have deleted Norton Security but still can't get rid of the N360_BACKUP folder.

Thank you for the help & resolutions you provided.

Re: D Bortoli

If you have created a new backup, are you still going to use the backup feature of Norton Security, NS? If so, you still need the 360 backup folder.

If you no longer want to use the backup feature of NS....To be able to try to delete the N360 backup folder, you need to disable the backup feature. Then go into Norton Settings - Administrative Settings and turn of Norton Product Tamper Protection. Then try to delete the N360 folder. Be sure you turn on Tamper Protection when you are finished trying.

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.
