Dashlane - what is it?

For some reason Dashlane Password manager has taken over my PC?  It has taken over my browser home page, I keep getting popups and I can't figure out where it came from.  One time I think I saw the name Norton on one of the pages, is this a Norton product?  I've clicked on I'm not interested, but the popups keep coming up.  I don't think it is malware, and nothing has shown up on any scans, but it is a nuisance.  Any information on Dashlane?

Dashlane is a legitimate software which is a password manager. Dashlane is not a spam or a malware but a legitimate security solution for Identity management. Its like Lastpass or 1Password or Norton Identity safe. Dashlane has been reviewed by various tech forums and magazines likes PCmag, https://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2461280,00.asp

etc.

The reason probably it pops up everytime is whenever you go to a site with login, Dashlane identifies the userId/password field and prompts you to use it and save the credentials.

So there is nothing to worry about. if you don't want it just uninstall it. Simple.

Re: Dashlane - what is it?

After some more searching, I've found out that Dashlane was some blotted software ACER put on my new PC.  That tells me how it got there, but I'd still like to know if it is of any value or just delete or uninstall it.  I used to use Nortons vault, for my passwords, but since Norton decided the cloud was better, I've been using a paper book, to store my passwords.  Pretty safe unless someone steals the book.

Hello

My 2 sons used to use it along with Windows 10 CU, but Dashlane hasn't been updated for Windows 10 yet, so they can't use it now. They both do like the program. They both waiting for it to start working with Win 10.

Thanks.

floplot,  I may be speaking out of turn, but while I was trying to find out what Dashlane was, I thought I saw on one of their websites, that anything after version 5 should be Windows 10 compatible.  I hope I'm not wrong and this information is of help.
