Dealing with "Duplicate" installation data in Norton Studio?

My Norton studio installations list shows two instances for the same machine!  This past year I made NETBIOS name changes in Windows 10 to try to get my router to display the proper list of devices.  Somehow Norton Studio thinks the same device represents two separate "installs" of Norton Security.  I have three computers and two phones set up under my contract, and all are apparently being monitored, but Notron Studio has a "ghost" of a past install listed.  I have three different Microsoft accounts installed on each of my computers, think of them as "yours" "mine" and "ours" for a married couple.  These conventions were established before the current generations of software existed.  They go back almost to the DOS days!

How do I "remove" an erroneous instance in my install count without inadvertently "killing" the protection of one of my devices?

I have not used Norton Studio except for testing to answer questions here.

It appears that Studio just loads the information that is available from the My Norton web page for your Norton Account. I would suggest logging in there and sorting out the devices listed there. Then Studio should show the updated information.    https://my.norton.com

I followed your advice.  My current active "auto renew" subscription information is correct, but Norton needs to fix their Norton Studio to deal with me!  I accepted a "free" Norton Identity Protection subscription when I placed my last order, then I turned off "auto renew" on it because it was going to raise my annual expense by a factor of two when if it renews later this year!.  When I try to examine the status of that order, their web site "blows up" and dumps a page of gibberish!

So does your Norton Studio now show the correct information? If not, your last post was referring to the My Subscriptions page. It is probably the My Devices page where you might need to make the changes I was suggesting.

Re: Dealing with "Duplicate" installation data in Norton Studio?

I'm using the Windows 10 version of the Norton Studio.  As far as I can tell in Microsoft Edge, there appears to be only one screen.  My suspicion is it is NOT the MyDevices page, since the one on the Norton Web Site shows my full 5 devices, but the subscriptions page shows the extra one "left over" from having signed up for a free "teaser offer" and then removed the "auto renew" settings for it.  I can live with the current situation, it is just that I found it confusing, not quite knowing the purpose of Norton Studio as opposed to the better established, older web site interface to the subscription system.

Re: Dealing with "Duplicate" installation data in Norton Studio?

From what I can see, the Norton Studio is just a way to see the status of your devices. It just seems to duplicate the information provided on the web site, but with no control of the devices. Others with more experience with Studio may be able to point out any benefits to using Studio.

If you see a device listed on the My Subscriptions page, you can delete that activation from that page. Click the little right arrow beside the current Subscription. Then click on Manage Licenses. Find the one you want to remove and click on the Trash can.

That will clean up your subscriptions.

EDIT

The Norton Identity Protection should not be showing as a device, because it does not protect and computer. It just protects your identity.

What information is shown on the duplicate device?

Thanks for all your effort on this...  My License list is correct on the web site, IMHO Norton Studio seems to be a waste of time.  Especially since it cannot cope with the fact that a device name appearing on one product and the one appearing on another makes it think there are two devices when there is only one "currently named" device.
