Device / Security Questions

I have a couple of questions....

On the Device properties/detail screen, what is the purpose for the MANAGE button?

On the Security screen under ways to improve the security score, it lists devices that are assumed to not have Norton Security installed.  In my case most of these are devices used by my grandkids (or other guests), which may or may not have Norton installed.  Is there a way to remove these so I can improve my security score?

Thanks.

Thanks, this answers the question about "managed".  But I still have the question about the devices that belong to guests that may not have Norton installed that downgrade my security score.  Is there any reason not to just say they have Norton?  Do they get added to my license if I say they do?

Thanks.

Re: Device / Security Questions

Are you using a Guest Network for your guest users? Not sure if Guest network users count towards your security score.

If you tell the Core app that a device has Norton installed does not get Norton installed on that device.

Hi Peter,

It's a "Yes" to the "Guest user" question.

You can also essentially "lie" to the Core App by telling it that NS is installed on the "offending" device, thereby recovering that portion of your overall Security Score rating...

BTW: Once you elect to do this, the device will then be listed in the Core App as having NS installed (indicated by having it's A-Okay" now icon) - even though it's not actually so.

Also - (So far) there's no apparent way of reversing/removing that little "lie" about the flagged/questioned device using the Core App...

Cheers!

Re: Device / Security Questions

By lying to Norton Core and telling it a device has Norton Security installed, you are undermining the point of the Security Score.   No one is being graded who has the best security score.  This isn't a competition.  It's for your reference only.  Mine is at 117, and I work for Norton.    I am fully aware of the various reasons why my score is so low, and I'm ok with them.

And as a reminder, with your Norton Core you also get Norton Security Plus, allowing you to install Norton Security on an unlimited number of devices. You can access this via https://my.norton.com/

Re: Device / Security Questions

Understood Dave,

But since "Allowed" Guest devices are also flagged by the Core, is the intention (or implied suggestion) that Norton wants the Core admin to also install one of those unlimited NSP packages on each allowed Guest device as well?

Re: Device / Security Questions

That's up to you, it's your account.   If someone is going to be on my home network regularly and I had Norton Security Plus, I'd make sure they have Norton Security installed.   But just an acquaintance, and it's a one-time thing?  Nah.
