Diagnostic Report - Network Connectivity Check shows incorrect status

When I run Diagnostic Report it states the following:

Laptop has wired Ethernet connectivity, internet is working fine, and Wireless function is disabled with laptop's switch button.

Windows 7 x64 and NS 22.10.0.83

Since Wireless adapter is disabled, NS should recognize this and not trying to test wireless WAN connectivity.

Please revise and fix.

Thank you.

P.S. By the way, users have reported that with latest NS build they cannot ran manual Quick Scans, I tried several manual Quick Scans and it's working fine for me.

Norton team is aware << Norton 22.9/22.10 Diagnostic Report - Networking Connectivity check shows incorrect status even when network status is stable >> and is working on it.

Hi Bjm_,

I did not see it under "Hot Issues and Hot Fixes" topic but since you say that Norton team is aware, well it's fine.

Edit: Just found the topic...

Re: Diagnostic Report - Network Connectivity Check shows incorrect status

I opened my Norton home premium & clicked on diagnostic report then a little blue box is there saying network connectivity check -Problem: can't confirm internet connectivity at this time. When I click on fix now it shows my Ethernet is connected  with a red x on wifi connection .So if my desk top is connected to the internet why do I need to connect to my wifi ? I am confused

I'm getting this issue on both my systems.

One on 22.9, the other on 22.10

Re: Diagnostic Report - Network Connectivity Check shows incorrect status

In addition to this issue, Norton also reports that I need to upgrade the CPU in my laptop (CPU is slow). Why beat about the bush? Shouldn't the Diagnostic Report simply suggest that I need to bin my current hardware and buy a new PC from (insert link to Norton/Symantec affiliated, new PC hardware advertiser here)?

Re: Diagnostic Report - Network Connectivity Check shows incorrect status

My diagnostic report also showed the slow CPU notice. I'm not too worried. This is on a 1 year old laptop with an i5-5200U   2.2GHz CPU. I got that on the first day I ran the diagnostic report after buying the computer.

Not sure what you have to have to satisfy this report.

Peter and elsewhere, I never got that slow CPU notice and I'm on an 8 year old 64 bit desktop with 4gB ram, and the only thing that I've done is put in a SSD !

Hi @elsewhere

I see a sarcasm font !

Indeed you do!

In all seriousness, it's a defect that appears when running the Diagnostic Report under a Windows Standard User account (non-administrator). I'd suggest that peterweb is using a Standard User account as well so that's why he is seeing the same "CPU is slow" message. If you run the Diagnostic Report under a Windows Administrator account, the "CPU is slow" message will not appear.

Re: Diagnostic Report - Network Connectivity Check shows incorrect status

Yep. I'm using an Admin Account. No best practice I know, but there you go !

Re: Diagnostic Report - Network Connectivity Check shows incorrect status

elsewhere

Good catch. I ran the diagnostic scan in my Admin account and the slow CPU warning did not show.

Still get the network connectivity warning.

Re: Diagnostic Report - Network Connectivity Check shows incorrect status

I just ran another diagnostic report then scrolled through the results for network connectivity. My report is now accurate in that I am wireless on this laptop and the Ethernet is not connected. Norton CORRECTLY reports the status. Nothing reported regarding the "slow CPU" issue. Just got NSBU 22.10.0.85 and can verify the network reporting issue still exists. Note time stamp and date.

That's correct; this issue was not resolved in Norton Security 22.10.0.85; our team is working on this issue to have it resolved in a future release. Thanks for your patience.

Re: Diagnostic Report - Network Connectivity Check shows incorrect status

I can see from the other posts above about the Network Connectivity Check issue that this problem started around the 14th of July. and now its the 25th of July and it is still an issue.I have been a faithful customer of Norton for the last 7 years but I am starting to lose my faith in Norton.I have more problems now with Norton since I bought a new laptop in February of course with Windows 10 included.I still use my old laptop with Windows 7 which I have had for about 7 years.I have had more issues and problems in the last 5 months with my new laptop then I ever had with my old laptop in the 7 years of using it. I am beginning to think Norton products are not as compatable with Windows 10 as they want their customers to believe they are .My subscription for Norton runs out in October and I think I will be looking for a different virus and internet security product other then Norton.Tired of being patient.

@surfergirlGG2

Yes, I can sadly agree with you.. over last year I observe that with almost every single new version/build of Norton we have new list of issues to fix.. and then we wait weeks for new build to fix them and the new build brings another new bugs to fix.. and it starts all over again... :(

But as for protection I've been using Norton for a decade now and it never let a single piece of malware for all my machnies like smartphones, tablets, PC, laptops over these years.. and that's the most what matters - security, so I will still stay loyal with Norton, I'm too big fan to give up! ;-)

Re: Diagnostic Report - Network Connectivity Check shows incorrect status

Did you guys read this post? A Admin has acknowledged the issue exists, having done so a mere 8 days ago, which is hardly sufficient time to correct it. This issue as you are aware is not the only one Norton engineers are chasing lol. Several have already been squashed. Patience and participation are key to assisting the team in getting it right before releasing to the public. Have grand day everyone.
