Different Tamper Detection Message

I have just gotten a tamper detection message that says "Online.family Nortons is missing a file" followed by another email stating that Online.Family Nortons has been disabled. What type of tampering would cause this to happen and how to fix this?

Re: Different Tamper Detection Message

HI David,

Could you tell me if you are still able to see the paw at bottom right hand corner of your kid's PC screen?

Thanks,

Katie

Re: Different Tamper Detection Message

Hi, I just had this happen on one of my computers as well. The paw is still showing on the computer and shows that it is enabled. Why am I getting the disabled message? Did it fix itself or do I need to do something. It shows on the activity the same thing of having a file missing. Please help!

Hi oreogurl20,

After your received the message, did the program still work? Were you still able to see Web, Search and other activities?

Thanks,

Katie

Re: Different Tamper Detection Message

Yes, we were still able to get online and it was still even tracking the websites that we visited. My husband was actually the one using the computer when it emailed me and told me it had been disabled. I asked him about it and he said he hadn't been in it or had any pop up messages about it. He doesn't have any of the passwords or anything for the accounts either so he wouldn't have been able to log in and change anything either. So we aren't really sure what's up with it, but we wanted to find out just in case it does it when our son is on it...We don't want to yell at him if he hasn't done anything! =)

Re: Different Tamper Detection Message

oreogurl20,

It’s possible that your system ran some type of updates, ex, Windows updates which caused the system to reboot or restart the services for the program.  In these cases, Norton Safety Minder program restarts automatically.  That could be the reason you received the messages, but the NSM is running and functioning correctly.

Thanks,

Katie
