Disappointing WiFi performance with Core

Terrible WiFi coverage from this device defeats the purpose of having this very expensive router AUD$399 what a waste of Money and time have persisted with this for months and can hardly get any decent coverage of my home. My existing Netgear router does a far better job of Wifi coverage across my entire home from the exact same location, would not recommend this to anyone in any shape or form totally useless, should refund my cost of unit

Hello Dare. Have you separated your wireless bands following this guide? That is the most common suggestion available for wireless issues on Core. You can contact Norton Core Support at this link for a resolution and return of your product if you so desire.

Personally, I get better performance on separate bands.

Re: Disappointing WiFi performance with Core

Darethfl. Are you using PPPoE? MOST providers outside the US use that protocol, some with different requirements when setup with other devices. Do you have an ISP wifi enabled device connected to Core still having its wifi enabled? Please tell us what you have adjusted in the way of settings. Band separation, SSID's being different for the 2.4 / 5.0 networks, separate passcodes for each one. Have you changed the band channels of each network so they don't conflict? Keep in mind the 5.0 side is designated for shorter range and strong streaming bandwidth. The guest network should also have a separate passcode. The number of devices connected at a given time will also drain wifi resources. If you have done all these and more my suggestion is return your unit for a full refund or exchange.

FWIW!! My Core allows a neighbor to connect to my guest network whom is 1/8 of a mile away.

Edited: What is your Core firmware version? And the app / version?

Cheers

Re: Disappointing WiFi performance with Core

Hi SoulAsylum, appreciate the assist, Core firmware is version 181010_270 and iOS app is version 1.83, I am very particular about keeping all upto date on all my IT systems. I have been running separate bands, channels, passwords in every possible combination on core and only have a wired WAN connection coming from ISP provided modem to Core and have disabled the WiFi on this ISP provided hardware, I have disconnected all devices and systematically reconnected all wireless devices one at a time changing channels on core an testing results of range and data throughput to no improvements or discovering any obvious issues, I can replace the Core in the exact same place in my office with a Netgear Nighthawk Wifi router that also uses MiMo technology and get outstanding coverage to all areas of my home and excellent to outstanding data through put straight out of the box without any dicking around with changing any setting I just used the factory default,. this says to me that the Core is either completely inferior product or my Core is without question a faulty unit. I would love to return the Unit but here in Australia the Norton local office here has not given me that option to either return or replace the unit, basically they just keep providing emailing me the same info to try over and over from their CS Manager down to the CS agents just scripted responses so disappointing from Norton.. already wasted so much time and money on this. I do appreciate that you have offered scuh detailed suggestions and assistance - thanks and have a very Happy New Year SoulAsylum

Cheers Dareth

Hello again. Did you purchase the Core from Harvey Norman store? If so what have they told you? They would be the point of contact for returns/replacement.

        Cheers

Re: Disappointing WiFi performance with Core

Hi, I have not contacted Harvey Norman what I have done is connect my Netgear NightHawk to Core and using this Wifi hardware, I get excellent data throughput and coverage across my entire home, sorry I have just given up trying to get anything sorted by Norton. As i said previously all I get is excuses and sripted responses. All very disappointing and shows a total lack of customer service at HO management level. Profit over people.

Thank you again for all your help
