Disk Doctor not repairing Index entries

System:  Vista Ultimate 64-bit SP1 and Norton SystemWorks 2008 Standard with current subscription

Symptoms:  PC has crashed several times a day all week.  Investigations have led me to suspect HD problems.

My Background:  I'm an engineer looking for knowledgeable responses only, not conjectures.  Software and PC hardware aren't my full-time job, but I'm better than dangerous behind the keyboard.  Please don't bore me with un-educated responses or try blowing smoke up ... (-;

Issue Summary:  I ran Norton Disk Doctor (NDD) several times today in an attempt to find and fix errors identified by NDD, but it appears that NDD cannot (or will not) fix the errors it has found.

Issue Details:

Step 1, ran NDD on my HD primary partition.  The report [excerpt below] indicated these errors...

Index entry lsasrv.dll.mui in index $I30 of file 2410 is incorrect.
Index entry SI8152~1.HTM in index $I30 of file 96894 is incorrect.
Index entry size=120x90;noperf=1;alias=93245558;cfp=1;noaddonpl=y;kvmn=93245558;target=_blank;aduho=300;grp=482272153;

Index entry networklib.xml in index $I30 of file 112461 is incorrect.
Index entry NETWOR~2.XML in index $I30 of file 112461 is incorrect.

Step 2, ran NDD again on same partition with "Fix errors" checked.  After it ran and scheduled a fix, I rebooted the PC.  NDD ran as expected after the reboot and returned me to Vista.

Step 3, ran NDD with "Fix errors" UNchecked.  Again, here are the interesting lines from the report...

Index entry lsasrv.dll.mui in index $I30 of file 2410 is incorrect.
Index entry SI9F14~1.HTM in index $I30 of file 96894 is incorrect.
Index entry size=120x90;noperf=1;alias=93245558;cfp=1;noaddonpl=y;kvmn=93245558;target=_blank;aduho=300;grp=483208617;

Index entry networklib.xml in index $I30 of file 112461 is incorrect.
Index entry NETWOR~2.XML in index $I30 of file 112461 is incorrect.

Step 4 (repeat of Step 2), ran NDD again on same partition with "Fix errors" checked.  After it ran and scheduled a fix, I rebooted the PC.  NDD ran as expected after the reboot and returned me to Vista.

Step 5 (repeat of Step 1 & 3), ran NDD with "Fix errors" UNchecked.  Again, here are the interesting lines from the report which differs from the first two...

Index entry lsasrv.dll.mui in index $I30 of file 2410 is incorrect.
Index entry size=120x90;noperf=1;alias=93245558;cfp=1;noaddonpl=y;kvmn=93245558;target=_blank;aduho=300;grp=483977894

Index entry SIZE_1~4 in index $I30 of file 13263 is incorrect.
Index entry SI818F~1.HTM in index $I30 of file 96896 is incorrect.
Index entry size=120x90;noperf=1;alias=93245558;cfp=1;noaddonpl=y;kvmn=93245558;target=_blank;aduho=300;grp=484023096

Index entry networklib.xml in index $I30 of file 112461 is incorrect.
Index entry NETWOR~2.XML in index $I30 of file 112461 is incorrect.
Index entry SI1454~1.HTM in index $I30 of file 122740 is incorrect.
Index entry size=120x90;noperf=1;alias=93245558;cfp=1;noaddonpl=y;kvmn=93245558;target=_blank;aduho=300;grp=483977894

At this point I stopped since if anything there are more problems than before.  It certainly looks like a problem at $I30, but how do I fix this?  Before the steps above I've run the Windows chkdsk with the either the "/f" or "/r" switches (can't recall which one now).

While I'm not certain if these problems are the cause of the PC crashes or a symptom of a related problem, I'm stuck right now.  Anyone out there familiar enough with NDD to troubleshoot the messages above?

Thanks.
