Disk Image Software

I am looking for software to make an image of my system drive (I have my general data backup covered with cloud backup).  I see Norton Ghost does all of these things but do Norton have a product for making and if necessary restoring a disk image?

Re: Disk Image Software

Norton Ghost was capable of system recovery to a new drive if needed. Norton Ghost is unfortunately now obsolete.  The nearest thing to Norton Ghost is now Veritas System Recovery 16 Desktop edition. It is capable of recovery to dissimilar hardware if necessary. Of course your OS and software licenses need to be able to be activated on new hardware.

Re: Disk Image Software

Several free programs are available for copying and image backup. There are also paid versions for some of these. Easeus Todo, Macrium Reflect, and AOMEI Backupper are a few.

I have been using AOMEI for a 6 weeks now (I got the paid version, 2 PC's for $39 with lifetime updates included) and I've found it to be a very simple to use replacement for Ghost 15. The documentation isn't the greatest (Chinese company), but I've created schedules and schemes for imaging 2 PC's using both a local and network HD as the back up destinations. I've also restored an image to a spare HD without any errors. The process is much faster than Ghost and it really is very user friendly.

Thanks.  I have downloaded and started to use  AOMEI Backupper.

Re: Disk Image Software

Glad to hear that. After using it for a while, it might be nice to make a post letting others know how it worked out for you, either good or bad. I know there are many free and paid versions of imaging software out there, some are very technical and have very advanced options. I find AOMEI to offer many options that are user friendly where even a non tech savvy user can benefit from them. Of course the "pros" in this forum might recommend some of the more technical programs, but the reason I'm recommending this one is because most making posts here aren't "pros" and are looking for an easy to use replacement for Ghost. I have no connection with AOMEI but after researching many programs to replace Ghost, I decided to try this one and so far I'm very happy with it. This is my attempt to help Ghost users find an imaging program that is built to use with Win10 and still provide the functionality of Ghost.

And again, while I like the program, I find the documentation a little lacking. But they provide free tech support and also have a web forum where you can get answers to your questions.
