Disney's Toontown

I can't get Disney's ToonTown to play and I wonder if Norton Online Family is blocking it somehow. I thought it might be NIS, but I manually granted it permission through the firewall. I've attempted this setup twice on two computers. I need one Toontown account for the son and another for the daughter (they each have seperate accounts on the computer). I can't get it to work on either computer. Both computers are using Vista.

How about the rest of you? Has anyone else seen this problem? Or does Toontown work fine for you?

Re: Disney's Toontown

Hi draexo,

I noticed some of the pages that I visited (automatically brought to those pages) while trying to play Toontown are categorized as "Entertainment & Music" and "Kids", so please make sure these two categories are unblocked as well.  (I was not able to play Toontown when I had these two categories blocked).

Thanks,

Katie

Re: Disney's Toontown

Hi robmp11,

Do you have Norton Safety Minder installed on the PC while having trouble installing Toontown?  If you uninstall NSM, are you able to install Toontown?  We were informed by Disney that Toontown isn’t yet optimized to run on 64-bit Operating Systems thus there is a possibility of encountering issues trying to run Toontown Online in this environment.

Thanks,

Katie

Thanks Katie

Re: Disney's Toontown

Same situation on my son's Toshiba Satellite x205 laptop - version 1.15 of Safety Minder blocks Toontown across the board.  Only way to get it to work is a full uninstall.  The current version of Norton Safety Minder will allow me to disable Norton Safety Minder, and Toontown loads.  This is a Vista 64 machine (shipped with Vista 32, upgraded to 64).

So that makes the Dell 1525, Acer 5720, and Toshiba x205 that all have the exact same problem.  All laptops.  All use either Norton 360 v3 or Norton Internet Safety (2010).   My homebrew desktop with VIsta 64 has intermittant problems when 1.15 of NSM was installed.

At this point, I am going to try Windows 7 on the Acer, just to see.  Acer refuses to tell me if I can install Windows 7, because I am "out of warrenty", however they have Windows 7 drivers for my model posted on their web site..... so.....

Re: Disney's Toontown

Ok.  Today's experiment went well.  Acer refused to tell me if Win 7 64bit would work because I was "out of warranty" so I installed it anyways and viola.... Toontown runs great.... Only things installed are Norton 360 v3, Toontown, and Safety Minder.... No issues at all. So on the SAME Acer formerly running Vista 32 and fresh from a factory install, it did not work... I installed Windows 7 64 bit and now

Norton Safety Minder is not affecting Toontown play at all.  Go figure!

WIndows 7 is nice.  They should probably have released it as Vista SP 3.... since I do not plan on buying any more WIndows 7, I am not sure what I can do about the remaining two laptops that still have issues.
