Does the Apple Macbook Pro get viruses?

Just wondering, 'cause I want one. I currently have a Dell Inspiron, and I have to pay around $100 for a Norton virus protection thing every year. I want a laptop that I don't need to worry about viruses as much.

Hi fine

The link posted by mikedov to the Sophos site makes a very valid point where it states........

There may be a lot less malware for Mac OS X than there is for Windows, but many Mac users are making themselves an unnecessarily soft target by imagining that they are somehow magically protected from threats.[End Qote]

There is no totally immune state of affairs within both Mac and also Linux distros ...this has been discovered by many users of the alternatives to Windows !

There are some very proficient mischief makers out there who have proven that they have the ability to breach the defences of any user who is less than vigilant in their Security management .You must exercise caution and sensible practices whatever O/S you choose to use ...."Be careful out there " applies to Mac users equally as it does to Windows and Linux variants
