Does NIS protect me from TR/Dropper.Gen?

I received a report that a Trojan called TR/Dropper.Gen might be in one of the programs which I downloaded to my Laptop. I ran a scan of the download library using a Custom scan and found no problems. I then looked for this Trojan in the Norton "Viruses and Risks" and can find no mention of it.

So, now I am now worried that Norton does not protect me from this Trojan. I am using NIS 2011, Version 18.6.0.29 and the LiveUpdate has been run today. The person reporting the problem was using Avira to detect this Trojan

Can anyone re-assure me that TR/Dropper.Gen is detected by NIS?

Regards

John Russell

Hi JohnRussell,

To check if other vendors, besides Avira, find a threat, you might want to upload the file to VirusTotal where many different AV programs, including Symantec, will give their verdicts on the file:
