Download to a computer that has no internet access.

Is there a way to download my Norton 360 to a computer that does not have internet access? I have a license that allows me to use it on 3 computers. I want it to protect from dangerous programs> Thank you.

Hi, chuck. Possibly the easiest way would be to download a copy from your Norton account on a computer with internet access, and then transfer it to a USB stick.

You can then install it onto the system without internet, BUT you won't then have access on that one to updates which may or may not be a problem.

However, you WILL have Firewall protection.

Others may have better ideas so stay tuned, as it's not a problem I've had to deal with !

I tried that, initially, but it wants to go through an activation which it cannot do without internet access. I tried to skip the activation but it ended up being a "trial" installation and stopped functioning after a time.

Are you going to be transferring any files or information to this disconnected computer? If not, you could probably get away without AV. If so, what is the source of those files? If they are all from your own computers that are protected, those files should already have been scanned.

Is there a reason you do not have that computer connected to internet?

Things happen. Export/Backup your Norton Password Manager data.

The other computer is a virtual PC on my computer. I run Windows 7 on my computer, but have some programs that will only run on Windows XP, so I use XP MODE to run them. I access files through thumb drives and media cards. Some are from my computer, but some are not (i.e. pictures, etc). I have tried to get the XP MODE to access the internet but have been unsuccessful.

I checked and the Virtual Network Filter is checked. When I click on internet explorer (from XP MODE) I get the MSN website but I cannot navigate to any other website. When I try to navigate any other website I get a CANNOT FIND SERVER error message.

Check which adapter the VPC is being told to connect to. On the Windows 7 host internet adapter , if not already present ADD the IPv4 protocol. By default XP should be using NAT/Shared Network in your list. Restart the VPC and recheck connectivity.

Edited: Give this article a look as well.

I checked VPC properties and did not see an adapter listing. VPC PERMISSIONS only allows TRUSTED INSTALLER to make changes and even as administrator I cannot change those permissions. I checked NETWORK AND SHARING CENTER and all items with IPv4 were already checked.

If you'd be so kind please post a screenshot of your VPC adapter list here on the thread. Here is how to post the screenshot: https://community.norton.com/en/forums/how-post-image-forums-0

Thanks Chuck. I was hoping to see the info you see within the Virtual PC host application itself. See the inserted screenshot taken from the first link I posted.

On the host (Windows 7) follow these instructions: https://claytonj.wordpress.com/2007/02/02/connect-virtual-pc-to-internet/

This should give a clearer idea of what I believe is missing on the VM (XP side) not seeing as its not configured correctly.

Re: Download to a computer that has no internet access.

I cannot find a TESTVM service box on my computer. The only networking service boxes are the ones I showed you. I tried the procedure on the link you sent. I have neither a VIRTUAL MACHINE NETWORK SERVICES listing nor is VMNetSrv.inf anywhere on my computer.

Re: Download to a computer that has no internet access.

Chuck there will not be a testvm on your machine. The author of the article linked to named their VM testvm as it is decribed in the screenshot. YOUR VM name is the VM you should be looking at for those settings.

This is a good article to troubleshoot your missing services. If it doesn't help you my suggestion is to contact Microsoft support for their assistance.
